MARKET Protocol is pleased to announce a partnership with DDEX! As a decentralized exchange, DDEX plans to implement MARKET Protocol alongside their existing spot trading. MARKET Protocol was built to enable buying or selling of derivative relationships in a DEX environment without the need to borrow or take custody of the underlying reference asset. Through derivative exposure DDEX’s users are no longer limited by existing ERC20 to ERC20 relationships and opens the door for expanded on-chain, off-chain and cross-chain offerings all within a safe and solvent trading ecosystem.

MARKET will provide exposure for Traders to other cross-chain crypto assets without having to manage multiple exchanges or take custody of a separate asset. This means Traders can have similar price exposure to owning a cryptocurrency like Monero or stock like Apple without ever transacting in the asset. Traders will be able to gain long and short exposure to any asset, provided there is sufficient liquidity.

Very good point,  if you look at the experience and background of the team at the CME and CBOE you will see that they saw a number of issues with the traditional derivative markets and that is what they plan to address.

In the crypto world, specifically mining for example, if an individual believes that they can profitably mine Ethereum (or any other mineable cryptocurrency) over a certain length of time in the future at a minimum guaranteed price, they may want to enter into a contract now to eliminate the risk of a future price decline in Ether.
