0.4.2 update is ready and will be published in next 24h.

It includes a few changes in addition to new PoS ROI calculation algorithm, which was implemented in 0.4.1:

  • Fix for lk_max_locks exhaustion problem, more info is available here. It will become active since 20 Aug 2013;
  • 27 bits PoS target limit will become active since 20 Jul 2013.
Repository updated, builds published.

Builds: https://sourceforge.net/projects/novacoin/files
Source: https://github.com/CryptoManiac/novacoin

Protocol update conditions:

0.4.1 and 0.4.2 will be compatible with 0.3.5/0.4.0 until 20 June 2013.
0.4.2 will be compatible with 0.4.1 until 20 July 2013.

An optimal way is update to 0.4.2 before 20 June 2013.

I like the fact that Novacoin is updated often, unlike most other altcoins. How many people are currently working on Novacoin?

Actually, NVC isn't a PPC fork or clone for a long time. We working with bitcoin codebase directly, it's a PPC-like bitcoin fork.

Whats the difference between a fork and a clone?

A fork happens when substantial changes are made to the source code that make the new version incompatible with the old one. A clone is when somebody takes the source code and makes little or no modifications and starts a new coin with it.

There is a withdrawal fee of 1.0 NVC

Is it a joke? If it is, I should say that I can't understand this type of humour. Roll Eyes

I've been using Big Verns 9 pools pretty religiously he is very good at keeping them up and quickly responds to any concern or issue. Great little community as well.

Yes, if it will be required to make system more reliable. Dynamic interest adjustment is better than static interest, and it has economical sense.

  • Dynamic PoS interest. Now it's a function of PoS difficulty, nRewardCoinYear = 1 / (posdiff ^ 1/6). It can have values from 100% to 1%;

Are you going to continue changing fundamental protocol rules in future?

Mined coins volume displayed on transactions list page, something like this:

03.05.2013 06:14 Mined [unknown] [+3.14]

P.S. You need 0.4.1 client to see this. Also I think about "stakegeneration" field addition to getinfo rpc call result.
