is there any plan to switch to cryptonight heavy before the individual asics arrive?
The algorithm will be changed to CryptoNight v7 (same of Monero), not CryptoNight Heavy (and it will be changed in the next weeks, before May).

I don't remember seeing XMR as trading pair in any exchange. Besides BTC, only ETH, LTC, USDT, and rarely some exceptions, like BCH and DOGE.
Never heard of Poloniex? It's just one of the oldest and largest crypto exchanges ever.
Hm, interesting. I didn't knew Poloniex has XMR pair. So, it's really time for exchanges to adopt it as trading pair.
Poloniex introduced XMR markets in July 2014. Which was extremely unusual because Monero had just been born and was just another altcoin/fork/clone/"shitcoin". No other exchange followed suit for many years to come. So it isn't something new and doesn't mean that "it's really time for exchanges to adopt it as trading pair".

Next step logical step, MSR/XMR pairing. Fingers crossed.
I think that could take some long time (maybe some years). I don't remember seeing XMR as trading pair in any exchange. Besides BTC, only ETH, LTC, USDT, and rarely some exceptions, like BCH and DOGE.
Taco seems to have tried to propose it to Southxchange. A XMR / MSR pair would be a good oppunity for Masari to grow
And for all CryptoNote ones too. Maybe XMR is big enough to already be used as trading pair in greater exchanges too.
