oh, yah, since  http://qrk.coinmine.pl/ is way more than 50% of the hashing power, it causes some issues

i wouldn't attempt to solo mine w/o a very well connected quarkcoind, so you can maybe access the other 30% or so

they tend to orphan a lot of *blocks, including *some of their own.  it runs pretty slow

Devs, please make a paper wallet.
I've already said that I'd be willing to create this if a bounty or something was posted.

I Understand. I would chip in tiny amount because i have a very small holding, but - isn't it also in your personal interest to have a paper wallet option?
I only have a relatively small stake, I'm mostly along for the ride Cheesy

My time is being pulled in about 15 different directions at the moment (well, for the past month or so actually) so I'd need some motivation to do this... Is essentially what it boils down to.

Make a new topic, and see how much do you collect. I'm in.

Made a "how to buy Quark for beginners" in Dutch.
Quarkcoins kopen voor beginners in het Nederlands: http://quark.freeforums.net/thread/90/dutch-quarkcoins-kopen-voor-beginners

if i'm not from nederlands, can i still use this service?

Use bitcoins to buy quarks. Bitcoins is a decentralized currency; you can use it from the US to the Arctic to Iraq.

How long do QRK transfers usually take? I'm talking about deposits from pools to cryptsy or even local wallet?
I have observed that qrk.coinmine.pl -> cryptsy takes at least 30 minutes to even show up as pending deposit, and then another 30 minutes or more for the deposit to be confirmed.
And now I'm looking at payouts from http://176.221.46.81:8372/ to my local wallet and see a completely different frequency of transactions or rather hours of difference.

Unfortunately there is not functional QRK block explorer to see what's going on.

I was wondering if to be expected and what you guys thought about it.

It takes 5 minutes. cryptsy is slow.

Couple of quick newb questions before I dive in.

How many QRKs can u mine daily with an average i7?

Can you mine with GPU also? (how much would a 7950 get?)

I wont be mining in less than 2 x Xeon in a server board.

No GPU mining. It's Windows malware.

for the record, I thought I'd say that the displayed 'efficiency' on any quark p2pool is .. not correct

example:  176.221.46.81:8372 reports 99.79% efficiency, with 659 shares, 111 dead

5.9.24.81:8372 reports 99.36% efficiency with 6102 shares, 39 dead

it's some issue with pool rate and local rate not being the same # (as they should be, since all these are operating independently)

.. re: minerd, I don't recall seeing that in malwarebytes, but it flags cgminer, 'cause of same issue

oh, also, i have 5.9.24.81:11973 set up with connection max 250, with 220 incoming connections allowed.  it's, ah, full right now, but if you need to DL blockchain it should be fairly fast off of there.   i may restart it later with 700'ish connections, same as bitcoind used to run

minerd was distributed as payload for various types of malware a while back. Many AVs still flag it because of that.

how someone can mine quark?

I am searching whole today, but could not find miner program for it.

where can i find quark miners ?

*

and the cpu standalone windows miner i found is flagged by Avira as bitcoingen virus (probably false positive but who know). Someone from quark should provide a safe link for beginners

virus total found this

https://www.virustotal.com/fr/file/745bba1e221367e53d305c3421a83c90c5bba968a973ca3336990f4f1ce2f5ac/analysis/

Compile from source like I did on my Linux box. No 'virus' found. I was running for process continuously for 3 months (on average 1 month uptime).

If you're running Windows and thinking of mining, no one can help you except Bill Gates and yourself.

I am trying to understand the description of quark.  I particularly unsure about how many coins is really available.  From this statement "Total of 247 million QRK will be mined in ~ 6 months, after that ~ 1 million QRK p.a. (~ 0.5% p.a inflation)", what does it mean?  What does the abbreviation "p.a. inflation" mean?

per annum

Thanks, so let me understand this. After the first 6 months there are a total of 247million quarks, 1 year after that, there will be 248million total, or 247 + 248 = 495millions total? my guess is 248millions, but I am not clear about the language.
247+1 = 248 Million

thanks

Doesn't that seem like a HUGGGE mistake for Quarkcoin? The few people that came on board to tinker with it at the start will literally already have about 99% of the coins that will be mined for years to come. How many miners of Quarkcoin are there?

The developer of Quarkcoin wasn't Satoshi - that's for sure.

Satoshi was not a trustable guy. He premined millions of Bitcoins, Quark devs didn't mine any.

This's not a mistake. This's an advantage.

It's designed to be a true cryptocurrency -- no mining @ speed of light; only the existing is circulated.

Almost all coins have already been mined. Most miners sold it cheap, so that helped with fair distribution.

1) If im in Europe, whats the best place to buy QRK?
2) Does CGMINER work with qrk?

1) Buy bitcoins from your favorite exchange (like www.mtgox.com); use it to buy from other websites like cryptsy.com, bter.com etc...
2) No. Cpu mining only. See first post.

Quark is no longer listed: http://coinmarketcap.com/

Probably because they couldn't update the coin.

Can't blame them... QRK is seriously mismanaged... I am working on a block explorer as we speak,
you can't expect a coin to succeed like that... and now with bill still and max keiser talking about it,
we should feel ashamed that the coin's environment is in this bad co(i)ndition.

Sorry for taking QRK off coinmarketcap.  It'll return once the block explorer is fixed.

Thank you for reacting so fast. You did the right thing. Better for it to not appear at all, than to show a wrong price.
