Yet, despite its volume, this field remains largely fragmented and inefficient, with wide presence of intermediaries and the existence of nontransparent business schemes. This definition can be to a greater a lesser extent attributed to both emerging and developed countries.
Logistics is not only about moving a cargo. It also involves the movement of big volumes of information about shippers and receivers, the nature of the cargo, how to handle and pack it, what should be done with this cargo in the final place of destination, etc. It goes without saying that logistics deals with huge paperwork which makes this complicated industry even more opaque.
