I've only got about 5 @ 842kh/s .. so that sounds about right

Rapidcoin's wallet doesnt close itself even if you press the X in the wallet window, it stays in tray. So make sure you right click and close it also after adding the config file.

It showed me I was 18 hours behind when it first started syncing. No point mining this shit.
This is why the difficulty rises to meet the 60 second block times. Always happens on newly released coins.
18 hours ago the genesis+pre-mine block was generated.
** BlockHeight was at 30 for launch, so the genesis+premine were confirmed.
