Hello everyone,

Im running Sia-UI-v1.1.0-linux-x64 and I need to backup the blockchain to use on another PC. Where does Sia stores the blockchain, and the wallet by the way, thanks!

It has been puzzling me singe the beginning of time. Where is that directory? And why an access to it is restricted to non privileged users by group policies? Nobody knows the answer, and only u can decipher that enigma as u are the smartest member of this community.

To use a newer version, can I just copy the consensus and wallet folders to the newer client?
Seems to hang on 'loading transactions pool'.

Edit: never mind, copied the transactionpool folder as well.
Edit 2: hm, now it hangs on 'loading miner'. Also, where does the latest Sia-UI keep its files? It doesn't seem to put them in the /resources/app/Sia/ folder.

Running v 1.1.0 on windows 10, 64 bit.

On opening the wallet the following error message appeared:

Quote
Siad not found

Sia-UI couldn't locate siad. Please navigate to siad.

How do I navigate to siad?

I've still got v. 1.0.4 installed, which still works.

Should I uninstall v. 1.0.4? Is that what's causing the error?

I have had v.1.1.0 installed for some time and up until now it's worked fine.

Thanks in advance for any advice Smiley

Definitely. If you download the most  recent release (http://sia.tech/apps/) you can become a host on the graphical app. You'll need to have 50k SC to get started with hosting.

anither coin far from complete and way behind in demand since the flop..there is onky more sia to sell...this selling pressure is getting ridiculus....except if  someone is buying 1 million dollar of sia in 1 second, i don't see when i'll be able to profit my investm..ent (i n a year frame) (its very long for the crypto world) lol btc will be 2200 usd then and sia will be 10 satoshi before going to moon its a shame i had alot of hope in sia but he is just doing like every other alt ........crashing like a plane
i'm going to loss my btc and the profit i woul have make so in total sia has to go nut if i ever hope to do has much profit as if i would have let my btc be and do nothing except of tchecking every now and then for develepeement and hype and fud and all the stress around...

even better if i would just have lend btc...

My point is why buy sia when everyone is doing way more money by tchilling with btc....(now you get why the price go down down down) witout mentining this atrocious big number of avaible supply + supply own by ppl...

anyway just anither bad thousand $ call i guess i will survive... but my hope  in all alt are now dead lol those 5 month have just too much too handle... you guys don't come near the ankle of btc when compared at a profit potential level. Sia and all alt goings to bye bye (2% lucky winner 98% losser)

ah come on
2-3 years ago everybody was bitching about that in the Dash community too
and now ? boom  20+ US$  go figure and do the math

may be sia need work hard to catch up storj.

It seems many people are interested in the comparison of Sia and Storj. I don't think Sia looks Storj as a competitor. Sia only looks the centralized clouds as the competitors such as Amazon S3. The goal of Sia is to over take Amazon S3.

If you really want to compare these two projects, the best way to do so is to check their github activities and run these two softwares to figure it out yourselves.

If you don't know how to check the github activities and you are too lazy to run the softwares you have to rely on other people's opinions. But you still can choose to rely on some reliable sources with data and facts which other people have aggregated. You need data and facts, not just words. Here are some reliable sources for you to refer to:

https://www.coingecko.com/en (projects ranking and pay attention to the Delevoper column)

www.coinmarketcap.com (marketcap ranking)

https://thecontrol.co/meet-sia-a-user-owned-amazon-s3-challenger-that-lets-you-rent-out-your-extra-disk-space-fa9da6ff9223#.9mrlonvf7 (in the middle of this article, there is a nice graph with data to compare Sia, storj, and maidsafe)

Thanks for the info.
