omg this coin is just being driven into the dirt

This coin caught my eye since it mentions the word sprouts and my next thought was growth.

"Sprouts being driven into the dirt" Ironic isn't it that the plant life is getting crushed into one of the things that lets it survive.

I'm going to try to mine on the MultiPool to get paid out in SPRTS since I only own Scrypt hardware.

what will happen when the coin arrives to 200 million coins  issued, the only reward will be the fees?

Nothing will happen. Sprouts will continue sprouting as it has done before. NoobKidOnTheBlock just plucked that 200 million figure out of the air to highlight that Sprouts is in a healthy state inflationwise compared to some other coins. Some are concerned that if there is too much inflation of the coin supply, Sprouts will lose value. A simple case of supply and demand.

The checkpoint warning is a standard throwback and most top POS coins have it. The main thing to do with all POS coins is to fully sync the wallet before opening it for POS minting. Another thing that might throw off novice holders of Peercoin-based wallets using Windows XP is the "Error: Couldn't open socket for incoming connections (socket returned error 10047)". This error warning is another throwback that can be ignored. If any XP user wants to be rid of the error here's my post from the other Sprouts thread:

Help for Windows XP users

Some people using Windows XP have reported the "Error: Couldn't open socket for incoming connections (socket returned error 10047)" pop-up when opening the Sprouts wallet. This is because the "Microsoft TCP/IP version 6" protocol is not generally pre-installed in XP (it is with Windows 7 and higher). While this is a common error and you can just ignore it, it is dead easy to correct. What you have to do is find your Network Connections Folder and add the listed "Microsoft TCP/IP version 6" protocol. Here's how to do it:

From your [DESKTOP] screen,
click on the [START] button in the bottom left hand corner. Then
click on [CONTROL PANEL]. Then
double click on [NETWORK CONNECTIONS]. Then
double click on the active [LOCAL AREA CONNECTION] icon, or the active [WIRELESS NETWORK] icon for a wireless connection. Then
in the General Tab click on the [PROPERTIES] button. Then
click on the [INSTALL] button. Then
click on the [PROTOCOL] icon so that it is highlighted. Then
click on the [ADD] button. Then
click on the listed ["Microsoft TCP/IP version 6"] protocol so that it is highlighted. Then
click on the [OK] button.
Wait for it to install. The [GENERAL] tab window will reappear.
Close all the open windows and you are done. No more 10047 error pop-ps!

This solution will also work on the wallets of other altcoins, running on Windows XP, showing the same, annoying "Error: Couldn't open socket for incoming connections (socket returned error 10047)" pop-up.

I'm down with trying to get this coin listed onto Poloniex but I am uncertain about how they determine which coins they add to their exchange?

if a lot of people request this coin they will add

Ya that would help as well to do something like that with the POS Smiley I agree that the exchanges are getting flooded with the coins but Sprouts also needs some more exchanges to be traded on and the word definitely needs to get out more about this coin for sure Smiley

how about we all SPRTS holder to support this coin in http://poloniex.com/ if added there then will have much more trading exchange and we all will be happy

I don't think that the total coin supply is the problem at the moment. For me, the problem is that we are producing coins too quickly. People are minting large amounts and flooding the exchanges - there are not enough people into Sprouts at the moment. This is a new coin with good potential. We need to spread the word to others.

An earlier contributor to this thread suggested changing the POS payout from 2% per day to 1% per day. I'm inclined to agree with him.

i hope this too ,, because i hold one million right now

Well let's see a couple things going right now for Sprouts.  Well it has a good strong community so far and a lot of people holding staking their coins.  The total supply isn't even 200 million yet and I know some coins with coin supplies in the Billions that still trade for more than 10 satoshi a coin so that's another good thing to look at.  In all honesty I can't see this coin dying anytime soon not with the people heavily invested into it and the fact that it has such a strong community behind it.  I'm not saying that Sprouts will ever hit over 800 sats again a coin and I'm not saying it won't either but I can guarantee you that as long as the community stays strong and the team behind this coin continues to work with it, Sprouts will be around and trading for a decent price for a long time Smiley So sit back relax and enjoy staking your coins Cheesy Cheers

Even they gave me 100% staking profit ... I still lose.... price down in one day from180 sat to 75 sat .... and not have big vol to buy ..... bad choice when choose sprts to stack ...

Unfortunately, it doesn't take much being sold to pound this coin into the dirt. We're headed to 0 or close to it very fast.
No I don't think Sprouts is headed to zero anytime soon. There is only 180 million coin supply so far and there are a lot of BIG and I mean BIG holders that love these types of POS coins to stock and stack and keep trading for long times mate Smiley I'm not saying Sprouts is going to be worth lots but I can't see it going to ZERO anytime soon that's for sure Smiley Cheers

I am having a problem with my NOMP pool. I just added sprouts to it, but it won't start.
getblocktemplate call failed for daemon instance 0 with error {"code":-8,"message":"Invalid mode"}

any help would be appreciated.

I got past that error by editing the bitcoinrpc.cpp file and recompiling the wallet
bitcoinrpc.cpp for peercoin forks fix
Code:
 line 2186 change from "if (fHelp || params.size() > 1)" to "if (fHelp || params.size() > 0)"

It introduced a new error that Im still trying to figure my way out through

As far as inflation is concerned, this needs to be a community discussion. I feel that we all could encompass something attainable, without damaging the essence of the coin. Personally, I feel that inflation control is not necessary. Take a look at DOGE. It is #6 on the top markets of crypto. Current market cap: 102,134,206,198    coins / $13,000,000.00 USD. http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/dogecoin/

We have to take a look at the long run. A few years down the road. Bitcoin becomes main stream adopted. No one can get their hands on a single bitcoin because the market cap has raised to $10,000,000,000.00 USD. Fractional reserve is now implemented. Each Bitcoin is worth $6,000.00 USD Would you feel whole owning .03 BTC ? No. Now, with 10 million Sprouts @ .00000067 BTC (current price) you would be looking at 6.7 BTC, or $40,000 USD. I am looking at the long run aspect of this all. Bitcoin is scheduled to expand exponentially in 2016. So will Sprouts. Smiley The aforementioned scaling can be also thought as 100,000,000 Sprouts @ .00000007 BTC each (assume BTC is $6k by the time hyper inflation would hit) = $42,000.00 USD. Even with Bitcoin half that price (which it most certainly will reach, with USD HYPER INFLATION), you're still looking at $20,000+ net worth of your coins a few years from now, for a very small investment today. Thoughts?

I can see your logic on the coin supply. Other successful POS coins have decided to keep the coin integrity - what it's unique selling point is - rather than cap the POS % payout. Tekcoin is one with a similar policy to what you suggest. Tek does link the % payout to difficulty, but a maximum 40% payout after a 30 day maturation is still very possible and easily achieved - so there is not an effective break to achieving a maximum reward. The Sprouts rate over the same time period is 60% (2% per day with a maturation after 5 days). So with Tekcoin there are similarities with what you propose, except with Sprouts the POS rate is a little higher, and Sprouts has better compound interest opportunities.

I think that I would still like to see some form of a gradual brake put on the coin supply sometime next year, but would be OK with whatever is decided. What avenues could the community discussion explore? Linking POS payout to the coin supply, like HoboNickels? Linking to difficulty like Tek? Or, simply keeping things as they are - with the rationale that there are some very useful coins out there that totally dwarf the Sprouts coin supply for the foreseeable future, like Dogecoin as you mentioned - i.e. if it ain't broke, don't fix it? Throwing it open for community discussion is a good first move to ensure we get this right.

Why would anyone want to mine when it is so easy to mint with Proof of Stake? Just open your wallet after maturation, wait a short while for you coins to fight their way onto the blockchain and voilà!

It's rainin' Sprouts!

Crypto is King.
Can a community member answer this? Thanks!

Been trying to point my miner at the wallet and everytime it is about to start mining, the wallet crashes and closes.  Only happens with my 200GH/s miners and not my 20GH/s miners.

Also, would like to setup a P2Pool for Sprouts but need to know the python network.py file settings for the coin.
