For all of you who don't know ArmoredDoge is he is a well known TROLL. He has many troll accounts and spreads stupid FUD and lies on a lot of different coin forums, not just on Syscoin. Just block him and ignore him. Hopefully he gets kicked out. Syscoin has a very bright future!
While he is obviously trolling, and trying to downtalk, by accident he touched on an interesting subject:
The question why the syscoin team thinks we need the amount of security given, and not more or less.
imo no amount of security can be enough, but i see people paying with mobile apps these days so there is obviously a market for less secure payments.

You never touch pvt keys... Amazon is accepting 0 confirmation payments assuming the cc company takes care of fraud or double spend in ourcase. We can simply say accepted too and them give option to wait for comfirmation or emAil me if something went wrong(your bank accoun had nsf error) eitherway amazon 1 click is just illusion masking the same problem which we can mask the same way...

Yeah exactly. The blockmarket website the vendor is running could add a login and "trust" a repeat customer to not need to confirm, much like amazon 1 click, if they wanted to. It is not the blockchain's responsibility to do that.

Pics of the updates coming to the purchase workflow in Blockmarket beta3, still hashin out the final details (heh, get it?!) but as you can see, trying to make it much more seamless with the QT wallet:

Had a quick look at your purchase flows.
Users has to wait 2 times. How long will this take ?

I mean if I want to do my everyday shopping, I don't want to wait while adding an item to my shopping cart. Amazon has its one click buy, which is successful because there is no waiting time. I mean, the longer the purchasing process takes, the more likely you are to lose customers on their way till the final step.

Much easier flow:
1 - Click buy.
2 - prompt(Do you really want to spend 100 Sys on Item?)  Confirm | Cancel
3 - // do the rest in the background
// In the unlikely case that anything went wrong, send a notification to the user, telling him what went wrong.

=> no waiting time. Greater ease for any customer.

but what about security?
..

about that security, would it be possible to obtain a merchants private key by placing an order at that merchant and monitoring what happens in your (hacked or self written) browser?
then if the private key is obtained other peoples orders can be decrypted... please correct me if im wrong.

Since the accept and pay are two transactions they need confirmation for security reasons to go through... We need to,build a smart contract approach todo that and it is possible when we rebase with latest bitcoin

Syscoin- Changing the way people do business.
But the fact is, this will be a serious decentralized market and with some anonymity it can replace the silk road while providing ease of use.

If the DEVs come through what they say they are going to do there this is a good time to buy.

Have to correct you with a *when the DEVs come through

Just the highlights as I jet off to work! Beta3 this weekend, and possibly a reveal of the mystery partner too... working hard to try and get it formalized allowed to be made public but until then  Lips sealed just know its good things.

Also, again an update from our Slack this morning where you really should be if you aren't. People were asking if Blockmarket/Syscoin Marketplaces would have a reputation system. Here is the full answer (copy/paste, sry):

Quote from: danosphere (on Slack)
danosphere [9:18 AM]
The idea is that initially blockmarket isn't going to have a rep system but we want to predicate rep on the trustless escrow system

danosphere [9:19 AM]
basically a byproduct of the escrow system will be vendor ratings if that makes sense

danosphere [9:19 AM]
your a vendor who ships something and the funds are escrow'd until the buyer confirms they recieved the item

danosphere [9:19 AM]
and then closing that loop (the buyer closes it) indicates a certain level of trust towards that vendor

danosphere [9:20 AM]
more and more sales = more and more rep

danosphere [9:20 AM]
there are is also the option of making it such that when you close an escrow, you can actually leave "feedback" with the closing of it

danosphere [9:21 AM]
in parallele we could do a stop-gap of ratings before the escrow systems

danosphere [9:21 AM]
system*

danosphere [9:21 AM]
but they would be kinda contrived imo dont you think? (without escrow)

danosphere [9:22 AM]
It would bascially be something like you purchase something, and then (probably within a fixed window of time/blocks) you can come back and post "feedback" on that offeraccept/offerpay (purchase of an item) on the market

danosphere [9:23 AM]
i say that this method is a bit contrived because the vendor doesn't risk anything currently (no escrow) so the time at which you'd return to post that review would be less concrete than it would be within the escrow system

danosphere [9:23 AM]
with the escrow system its more concrete- vendor says you'll get the item within 5-10 days, you don't get it within that time, than they have to refund you or discuss a compromise where the delivery time is extended... or you get a partial refund

danosphere [9:24 AM]
and then lets say after the extension you still dont get the item- you get your money back and that audit trail in and of itself is a form of reptutation in imo a more "real" version of rep

danosphere [9:24 AM]
and, it implicity insulates buyers a bit better when it comes to the purchase process

danosphere [9:25 AM]
trustless escrow we've already got designed.... I've talked at length with people here/IRC about a 2nd escrow mode which introduces arbiters

danosphere [9:25 AM]
but that needs more discussion/design

danosphere [9:25 AM]
hm... that was a lot of words eh?

danosphere [9:26 AM]
can you tell we've been thinking about this a bit?

danosphere [9:26 AM]
so TL;DR:

danosphere [9:26 AM]
- no built in rep to start, but if we feel the community is asking for this we can certainly layer it on either at the blockmarket level or possibly the daemon level

danosphere [9:27 AM]
- built in rep will come with trustless escrow and is a byproduct of actually recieving items on time; and will also insulate buyers from getting ripped off (but this is a feature we're working on)

danosphere [9:28 AM]
- built in rep will also come with "moderated" escrow where a third party is acting as arbiter. We're still working on the design of this. Who would be arbiters? We were thinking something like SuperNodes or something, they have to hold and "lock" a bunch of SYS to act as an arbiter, but for that they get a small fee or something.. still being designed and definitely still open to ideas/suggestions in that regard.

danosphere [9:28 AM]
Third party arbiters will be cool, I'll def sign up to be one, make sure people get what merchants claim to be selling

danosphere [9:29 AM]
and get a few SYS on the side for helping with that (as any arbiter would)

Sorry for just dumping the log but I'm out the door to the dayjob, just trying to keep people informed. Get on Slack! It's where the real discussions happen, been doing my best to back-copy them into here too tho  Wink

Yes I am a pirate, 300 years too late!
Because, the price is cheap.  If the DEVs come through what they say they are going to do there this is a good time to buy.  That's all.

Have to correct you with a *when the DEVs come through

madmartyk - you know it's in the bag  Wink. What will be interesting, is seeing how the blockmarket flourishes via independant developers on release and yes it's right when people say it can replace other things blockmarket is tangible.

I'm waiting!!
