I’d like to thank you and the entire Theta community for supporting us throughout this token sale process. We’re thrilled that so many of you are excited about using Theta tokens on platforms like SLIVER.tv, where millions of esports fans can engage with their favorite streamers. We are truly grateful to have had such a supportive and growing community backing us along the way. Speaking on behalf of the entire Theta team, we want to share our appreciation for you all, as we look forward to seeing Theta’s continued success with such a great community behind it.

In 2018, you can expect new native blockchain functionalities such as support for premium services, virtual goods purchase, and other key features for all stakeholders in the streaming value chain. With your help, our mission is to build the first decentralized streaming network by letting you share devices, resources and bandwidth — and benefit from doing so by mining Theta tokens. Our ultimate vision is to realize that “whoever contributes value/data will be rewarded”. At SLIVER.tv, we’ve been experimenting with this in a closed community for almost a year, and now we are confident about bringing it to the broader video community.

In the past month since Theta’s debut, we had an overwhelming interest in our private presale. We deeply appreciate the support we’ve gained from all parts of the world. We were oversubscribed and had to cut back most of the presale in order to protect our hardcap. We believe in self-discipline and “running lean” in order to achieve long term success for the whole community.

In light of this, and after consulting with our advisors including our legal counsel, we have decided to cancel our public token sale that was scheduled for January 8, 2018. We truly appreciate your support, your time and attention to our project, as part of our success lies in having such an amazing community. For those who passed our KYC, and whitelisted a wallet address as of January 3, we may airdrop some Theta tokens as a token of our appreciation. What do you mean exactly by that Sony and Samsung are "Company Investors"? What did they invest in your company? I mean are you getting free services or money or something else?

Tetha - how can they "tap into" my bandwidth? Whoever is "tapping into" my unused bandwidth is using his own at the same time, because it doesnt matter if he connects to me or some other server, data flows and he will be wasting his as well as mine bandwidth. This will just decentralize video. And I can hardly imagine streaming something off a Torrent in real time... Any technical thoughts?

Hi rpgmasters, $17 million is the amount of funds raised by SLIVER.tv (the parent company of Theta Labs) in the past 2 years, including their seed round and a series A fundraise completed in August:

$12.8M is the amount of Theta Tokens sold in pre-sale to strategic partners which is totally separate. While some equity investors in SLIVER.tv also chose to purchase Theta Tokens in the pre-sale, these are separate amounts those figures are referring to. The first post was made prior to our pre-sale and we'll update that to make it more clear.

Can you please explain the Theta token mining at core. I don't understand this concept, isn't Theta an ERC20 token which is not minable?
I am interested in your spherical projection patent, can I read about it or is it top secret until the patent is registered?

I never heard of sliver.tv but I'm not eSports fan, actually I didn't play games for many months if not years. But Theta has competition in Youtube. There are more and more complains against Youtube, mostly from authors who can't monetize many of their videos for no reason, while youtube (google) get's money from ads even on non-monetized videos.
If Theta manages to provide video platform which will also reward video makers, then this project will be very successful. This way your tokens will also have pratical use. Authors would get payed in Theta tokens and advertisers would pay for ads in tokens as well.
This team is one of the most competent that I've seen at ICO so far. And advisers! Co-founders of Youtube and Twitch!
