yea I saw that order. good move

At prices like this, I would just assume take as much TOR off the market as possible :-) The only reason it dropped from $10 to $1 was because of Carsen's sell-off.  The coin is super strong with an awesome brand.

Carsen still holds 10 percent of circulating supply and coin has no dev. plus uncertainty regarding intellectual rights.. too risky at this point.

Come on guys, sell me your TOR :-)

I can't even fill my 1 BTC buy order on C-Cex .. where are the sellers?

As long as the price remains under $1 I am buying, buying, buying.

And I may end up buying Carsen's entire share to take that off the market too!

TorCoin is currently looking for a qualified core developer with extensive experience in coin development.

I am willing to stake my developer with 20k TOR/year for 5 years.  After 5 years we can re-negotiate the contract as needed.

I am looking for a lead dev to start, and then may hire other devs as part of the team as well.

EMAIL ME with your qualifications: [email protected]

I'm also going to post in this thread every single TOR transaction that goes out of my wallet for bounties, ads, etc.  I think full disclosure and transparency is important for a new coin.

are you sure that you guys are not just playing good cop bad cop?
If what you say is true, why not set the buy order right now and keep the price above 1$?

I'm buying today - you an watch my wallet: TSnR8sTXhoCowbc64ScDdTggNQEPqhAEyg

okay. Thats gonna be interesting.

I actually posted this yesterday -

Just one more thing -  OP here (thetorcoin) probably has good intentions and Carsen is screwing him over and he is not done yet

but you still used a very bad judgement. anyway good luck with your project, I'm intrigued to know where it will go from here

I used poor judgment - but Carsen is gone from the project and his 150k remaining TOR may hurt the speculators if he cashes out, but it can't do any real damage to TORCOIN itself (in fact it just boosts the market cap).

anyways, I've been investing my own BTC in advertising (and paid 3 BTC to C-cex to get it listed), and thus far my promotions and listings have cost me 10 BTC out of pocket, while Carsen has benefited by making $100k on his 50k TOR sell-off.  And then after that he bowed out of the project. So, yeah, I am thus far the one being hurt most here by Carsen .. I could have cashed out 200k TOR when it was at $10, but I did not sell a SINGLE TOR.  I'm not in this for short-term gains.

also, if I ever decide to sell any small amount of TOR to pay for advertising in the future, I will do so only as a private sale to buy-and-hold investors.  Unlike Carsen, I will never sell any TOR on the open market, so as to avoid hurting the price.  For devs to sell their own coin on the open market is really not a good idea ..

I did some research and I see that spectrecoin is Tor integrated.

I've read a little about spectrecoin. Am I mistaken, or is it only a PoS coin?

In the past I recall Bitcoin devs (Gavin Andresen for one) talking about a hybrid PoW/PoS coin as being stronger --possibly.

Torcoin is such a hybrid, as I understand it.

(Note: I'm not affiliated with any coin.)

hybrid PoW/PoS is indeed a good thing. TorCoin is such a hybrid, and will transition to full PoS after a couple of years of PoW.

I want to hear from Dev.

Here you go, words of the dev.  This will crack you up.  Carsen Klock is the IDIOT!

https://twitter.com/carsenjk/status/855990158201569280

I like Carsen, even if he calls me an idiot :-)

I don't think I made a mistake in hiring him to work on the coin originally.  He did a good job - I have no complaints.

I made a couple mistakes though.  I should have researched his reputation first. That was mistake #1.  I still would have hired him, but I would not have staked him with 200k TOR.  That was a big mistake.  Completely my fault.  That was mistake #2.  He has 150k TOR left, and if he dumps it then the price would take a dive again.  Not really a big deal for the longterm prospects of the coin, but it would hurt the speculators.

The problem with Carsen is that he is a short-term thinker and doesn't quite understand what it means for a cryptocurrency to have value - which is why he likes to pump the coin and them sell it off.  That was never my plan for TorCoin and it never will be.

Again, I like Carsen, and I think he did a good job with the initial work, but it's definitely a good thing he has left the project.

I'm already in discussions with some new devs, but always taking applications for additional devs.  I also have plenty of other projects and can keep devs busy.

'Carsen leaving a project might be a good thing, but he is still holding the grenade (140k Tor) which he will sell if there will be buyers'

It's true, he could dump those TOR and hurt the price temporarily - but for the longterm it does not matter.  There will be a total of 12 million TOR only, and his 140k TOR has nothing to do with the longterm price or viability of the coin.  He can only hurt the price very temporarily in the short term.

Furthermore, a selloff by Carsen would help TorCoin in the sense that the market cap would go up.  In the event he decides to sell, I will just buy enough ads to cover the demand.  Or I'll buy them up myself.

As long as TorCoin remains under $1, I will be BUYING the coin myself!  It's way, way undervalued.

I just changed the logo, due to the recent post from the Tor Project: https://twitter.com/torproject/status/855882107234770944

https://github.com/carsenk/torcoin/commit/e1119f1170c3b3deede5bd2ea38445d716829297

If we need to change the name as well and they are not okay with us keeping Torcoin after removing their icon, a rebranding will occur, which we will need some solid ideas for names guys. Waiting to hear back from them, so far nothing major though, I changed the logo so that in good faith that they will maybe allow us to keep the name.

I have tried to see what my partner says about this and if he will update the site etc, currently awaiting a reply back.

Isn't TOR open source as well?

Keep the onion. Use a different onion logo if needed. Your coin is operating over TOR.

Also report the post to the EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation): https://www.eff.org

In the spirit of Internet freedom the TOR project should be supporting YOU!

Also, remind the people over at the TOR project that all of the human rights activists they are trying to keep alive in repressive countries may actually need a a virtual currency that operates over TOR in order to survive!

Don't worry!

Carsen helped write the code, but he's not the man behind TorCoin - as I said all along!

TorCoin is NEVER GOING TO CHANGE ITS NAME, PERIOD.

Or its logo.

Or anything else!

Looking for a new dev now with thick skin. I'll stake the dev with 25k TOR.

I'd like to get a dev who has a good rep and is approved by folks here ... open to suggestions!

there are hundreds of altcoins those repressed people could use. Think they will do fine without tor coin

I do think that the torcoin.org website should place a statement on their homepage that they are not endorsed by or affiliated with the Tor Project, Inc.

Somewhere easy to see.

Where can I read about the new project?

How can you be so foolish? Do you not see that because of the name "Tor Coin", which isn't changing, and the features, this coin is going to be fucking huge? It's going to beat Moreno and be used on the dark net. It's going to help anyone who wants to evade taxation.

I literally could see this coin going to $20 by the end of the year. No one should sell anything. I just wish I had more money to invest. I hope Carsen will dump and drive the price down so I can buy tons more Tor coins.
