How safe is it to store coins in Ledger nano compared to Exchanges? Misplacing or loss of ledger device or device not working after transfering coins to it!

There's a long history of exchanges closing (mtgox, cryptsy, etc) and others acting flaky and making it difficult to withdraw when they run into problems (poloniex, bitfinex come to mind). Do not leave coins on an exchange EVER unless you are comfortable loosing them.

Unless you alone have the private keys, those coins are not yours. Store it in your own wallet always.

Way safer than on an exchange, just make sure if you lose the device or if it fails that you have a copy of your recovery seed from when you first set it up. Wink

Trezor does not yet support it, so Nano is what I would recommend for VIA for now at least. I hope Trezor works with it too someday!

Hi guys, I'm planning to buy a hardware wallet, I know you can store your viacoin on a ledger. Can you already keep your via on a trezor also, cause I don't see it on their site they support via right now.

If both are possible, wich one would you recommend?
Otherwise i'm just going to buy a ledger

So much talk about prices, its all about prices of coins nowadays, but isnt the tech more important and the features and new opportunities the project offers to us? I myself am not a tech savvy person and cant contribute much, but I would be very happy to read some opinions of people that know more than me and like to share their views on Via's benefits. Would be great if the discussion could shift again from prices to tech. Just my 2 cents.

$VIA yet to surpass the all time high in BTC price, which was 0.000865 at 21st June this year. It's currently sitting at 0.00021 only. So, still a long way to go....

It is really cool but, does that not undermines the usecase of VIA? I mean if you can transfer BTC instand and without fee. There is no advantage in having fast blocktimes and low on chain fees.
