I installed the wallet but getting no active connections to the network. So even if I get the free coins, which I don't think happened yet, I won't see them. Any advice to getting some connections? Nodes to add? Files to modify?
Same here: wallet out of sync, miner: failed to connect 127.0.0.1 port 28664connection refused, rpc call failed.

Manage to sync. Basically x314.conf was ignored by wallet(win10) so I provided all params manually and now FULL SYNC is OK.
2 problems

2. Miners says connection refused on port 28664 while wallet running
PoW is finished
You should remove info about mining.
What about money from registration?
It's a lot of addresses, wait a bit you'll receive it.

If you set up your config and bat files correctly, it should work.
You need to have your wallet open and fully synced before you start your miner.

I installed the wallet on an isolated virtual machine so if it is a scam it can do no harm to my computer.
The wallet won't connect to the network so at this point the whole thing is kind of worthless.
