Hi XCH community,

I just made a Clear wallet account and first off, I'm impressed by the 'smoothness' of clearinghouse.

Devs or community sorry if the following have been asked before but I was wondering...

  • Is there any potential for ClearingHouse to be an actual decentralized exchange in the future? I mean, I can see that tokens can be traded as far as I'm aware, but I'm talking about on a scale of an exchange like Bittrex or early days of Mintpal? I would just feel safer storing my coins on a decentralized exchange instead of worrying if my coins will still be in whatever exchanges I left them in when I wake up in the morning
  • Will more games be added? R-P-S is a great way to earn (or lose) tiny amounts of XCH, but other games that let you bet more XCH would be nice.

Thanks for your time.

i wish someone would make a blockchain based blackjack game, that would be so nice

Soon, but not blackjack. Poker, and much sooner than you expect.

I'm finally happy with my via position. ViaCoin, along with xch represent my first ever alt coin positions. And let me say this: those of you who have been buying/holding these coins are soon going to be very happy as ViaCoin is on the cusp of real world adoption.

To be honest, I really don't know much about it. I have a friend who works for the company and he's been trying to teach me some of this crypto currency stuff. From what I understand so far, the company is going to use EITHER counterparty or clearinghouse, though I am still trying to understand it all.

What I do know is that they have been entering the gambling space for some time now and most of their work is social gaming. He says they have already talked with counterparty, which is what led them to look at clearinghouse because they had some issues with the counterparty developers, and overall speed of the network for what they are trying to do is my understanding. He said gaming is part of it but that they would ultimately offer shares through one of these platforms much like overstock is trying to do.

It's all speculation right now, I don't know anything else at all just yet. He tells me it's been in the works well before overstock's announcement. I'm just trying to learn so I can potentially get in on it. That's why I was asking about how to buy viacoin and xch. I have only ever bought bitcoin so this is all new to me. However, like I said, I don't know if clearinghouse will even be part of it, that's what I'm trying to find out.

TechGen Your post on counterparty thread :

"I'm trying to understand all this. What is the difference between counterparty and clearinghouse? And why would one choose one platform over another? Are they both compatible with btc? A good friend of mine told me to come here and check out clearinghouse, he said that is the platform his company is actively looking at implementing into their business (a gaming company) much like how overstock is doing with counterparty".

Can You say something more about that "gaming company"?

Hi guys, I'm new here. I was trying to learn about clearinghouse and didn't realize it had it's own thread. Are there any companies who list their shares on here right now? Or even better, has any gaming entity made the shift yet? I'm hearing some things about one that is eyeing clearinghouse and didn't know if they had begun yet or not. I'm digging for more details as I type. Also, can I buy, from what I understand, clearinghouse currency? via? xch? If so how and where? (I already own bitcoin) Thanks!

ClearingHouse is an embedded consensus system that allows for all manner of smart contracts to be made on the blockchain, including issuing and xfer of assets/token, decentralized exchange and proof of publication timestamping (blockchain notary).

Poloniex and Bter both trade XCH if I am not mistaken.

btcdrak - do You have any thoughts on this : https://twitter.com/CoyoteCrypto/status/524266878496415744 ?

Nothing new here. The SEC/FinCEN will take action against some US and non US companies before the Money 20/20 event where Ben Lawski will give a keynote presentation.
Action will be against companies which flouted US securities regulations and money transmitter laws.

Don't know the answer to most of your question except the last.

You can buy both Via and XCH on BTER.

https://bter.com/trade/VIA_BTC
https://bter.com/trade/XCH_BTC

Or, if you own one, you can buy the other using Clearinghouse.

Will XCH be affected by the "cryptopocalypse"?

Decentralized technology can only be turned off by a) turning off the internet, or b) every user of the system stops using it and deletes their copy of the blockchain. The coming regulatory cleanup operation will affect everyone and send shock waves through the bitcoin community. It's a good thing. Regulators are simply looking to prosecute situations where the law was broken and crimes were committed. It is not an attack on the technology, only the bad actors.
