Whre did you read that Elastic will have masternodes?
I don't really think that you can label XEL as a security, it's an utility asset/coin/token whatever you wanna call it, used to buy computational power

On a sidenote, this new 51% attack meme I'm sure as hell that will lead to a new wave of shitcoins with the sentence "51% attack resistant" in it, mark my words Grin Grin

I think they mean main net not mssternode :p

 Huh Huh Main-net has been launched long time ago and the computation part is now also available on the main-net (but still considered Beta). Maybe this answers his question or did he mean something else.  Huh Huh

edit:thanks trumpman you're right, was thinking about masternodes because someone asked "what will be the amount of XEL to run the MN?"

Excuse my ignorance but i have a few questions;
. And last, please dont get on binance or make mcafee endorse xel. Its one of the few real remaining projects, dont taint it.

what's so bad about binance?

Excuse my ignorance but i have a few questions;

. Is xel a security or anything that the SEC dogs will decide to block.
. Is the mn going to be launched june or not?
. Is there any 51% attack that can be done to xel?
. Are we going to find a way to crowfund PR campaigns or something alike for xel?
. And last, please dont get on binance or make mcafee endorse xel. Its one of the few real remaining projects, dont taint it.

I've searched the last pages of this huge thread but I couldn't find any reference to Gridcoin or Boinc.

This project seems very similar to the Gridcoin which I'm currently supporting with my CPU while my GPUs are mining.
Elastic seems to be built from the bottom for what it does though, while Gridcoin was just attached to another platform which was running before the blockchain technology (16 years now to be precise).
Is there any other reason that Elastic is better than BOINC? Maybe the two of them are different in many ways and I'm just missing something?

https://talk.elasticexplorer.org/t/elastic-compared-to-other-competitors/30
"The problem with this approach is the involvement of a central authority. The distribution of Gridcoins (GRC) can be tampered arbitrarily the moment an attacker gains access to the centralized service. Also, the existence of Gridcoin depends on the existence of BOINC. If the latter service dies, so does Gridcoin unless an update is rolled out which moves the Proof-of-Research mechanism to a different service.

In Elastic, we do not have such problems: we do not rely on any other third party service and neither do we depend the payout process on any kind of external (not tamper proof) factors. Instead, the measurement of the amount of computational contribution as well as the payout process is done entirely in the protocol itself."

Thanks for the info. I'm afraid of that exact issue with BOINC. However it's much easier to use than XEL is... or at least seems to be. I read the instructions today and though I understood what I had to do, it was a lot of trouble!

Did you read this?

https://github.com/xel-software/orientation

Legacy Core Client

The old legacy client should be used by all those who do not plan to get involved in either buying computational resources or by contributing their computational resources to the network. While still in experimental stage, this client is tested for quite a while now and is the safer choice:

https://github.com/xel-software/Litewallet-Mainnet

Experimental Beta Client (With Computation)

This is the new client. It allows you to interact with XEL's computation engine on the mainnet. It is less tested and may contain bugs. Please re-read the above disclaimer and never use more coins with it (or with Xeline) than you can afford to lose.

https://github.com/xel-software/Computationwallet-Mainnet

For an easier set-up, we strongly suggest that you use the Docker-based installation found here:

You can try to start from xeline website, and there's also lot of information on this forum.
XEL's github is here

Sonm and Golen are performing better recently. A lot of people have been saying even that "XEL is dead" and it was a good buy signal. Imo this is just an another example that market doesn't always care about the fundamentals (at least short to mid terms)
