On ubuntu 14 server all is okay, no single compilation warning :-P

New MarcusDe sandybridge miner works OK, but noncepool does not show any hashes when running the new miner.

Well, new algo isn't working on pool yet.
Mines should show "booo" now, and "yay!" after new algo comes in life.

Hi,

Can we please get the OP with links(Spexx, MarcusDe, etc) to the new miner's in preparation ?

Preparation is everything and this way we stop all the links in the thread and stop any FUD/bad links!!!

Many thanks

Lee

Have fixed all the links in the OP; I will stay online and IRC too for any questions, let me know anything else that needs fix if I missed.

Cool!
Thanks.

hi all how i cant back magi i replece wallet.dat in appdata and nothing happens ;/ ty for help !  Roll Eyes
Before you do anything with a wallet always make a backup. Save that file somewhere you can find it if necessary!
Then download the latest version wallet.
Run That One.
Works fine for me

MANDATORY UPDATE REQUIRED ALL WALLETS!

[hardfork] - sorry we have a few hardforks to be done and all gonna happen soon

1. M7M-v2 (hardfork on 10/26/2014 9:30:00 AM EST)

A switchover of the mining algorithm to M7M-v2 will occur on 10/26/2014 9:30:00 AM EST. Details about M7M-v2 can be found here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.9230961. The expected hashrate using the new algo is 2.545 times less than that with the prior algo. To continue with mining, download the new minerd (we will add download links here and in the OP soon), and follow the pool mining guide.

Be sure that you are using the new wallet v1.1.0.1 too.

2. Block rewarding system (hard fork at block 32,750)

A change in the block rewarding system is needed. This won't change the block rewards, but to be better to comply with the change of hashrate due to the M7M-v2 algo. The new algo leads to less network hashrate; the new block rewards will have maximum value at diff = 0.68 (for low block height); according to hashrate = diff * 2^32/180, that is about 16 Mh/s. We have also made increasing maximum diff with block height, to allow more people mining later on, e.g., optimum hashrate of 27 Mh/s which produces 300XMG at block 40,000.

3. A new difficulty adjustment method - Magi quantum wave (MQW) (hard fork at block 33,500)

Superficially a name here: Magi quantum wave (MQW) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wave_function). This adjustment is done by averaging prior 15 block difficulties. A significant difference here from other adjustment implementations is that each block difficulty accounted is given a weight, and higher weights are given to more recent blocks; in addition to that, block time is also taken into account. Usually the lower difficulty, the smaller block time. The adjustment algo considers less weight of a block which has the lower difficulty. See details here: https://github.com/magi-project/magi/blob/master/src/main.cpp#L1296

4. Finalizing the PoW-II

As we can see the PoW-I  (will be finished at block 50,000) has produced less coins than expected. To continue the CPU mining, also along with the new algo implementation, it will be very necessary to continue the PoW mining, that will finally make XMG a hybrid PoW/PoS-II coin and that is supposed to remain years long. The hybrid system is more secure than the pure PoW or pure PoS. The PoW-II block reward has maximum 50 XMG and minimum 3 XMG, with the same block rewarding adjustment as the PoW-I. Similarly, the optimum diff grows over time.

I think it's not going to last very long
Dev'll answer this.

Thank you much guys. Everyone remember to update your wallets NOW! all nodes! its mandatory. Check previous link released by Joel and new updates from Spexx and Marcus

when does the hardfork start ? I noted block 32750, but for the moment only the old algo work on supernova ?

Which one is the best miner version for my old-fashioned AMD Athlon X2 220?

The generic minerd included in my Windows 64 package will work on any CPU that will run Windows 7 64 bit. It was tested on a vintage AMD Athlon64 bare-bones system I have laying around. The 32 bit miner I compiled seems to run on anything that will run Windows XP, but is rather slow in comparison. It is worth having a play around with MarcusDe's 64 bit versions of minerd for specific processor types. I just found that his version for the Intel Sandybridge architecture http://graymines.net/miners/magi/cpuminer_win64_magi_byMarcusDe-sandybridge-1025.zip runs 4 percent quicker on an AMD Bulldozer than my generic version.

Tried both miners at suprnova and it does't work!? (they said they updated)

The new miner will not work until the hard fork at 9:30 EST today, which is 13:30 GMT. It is just my luck that I have to leave for work at 13:20 GMT.

I have updated my miner package for the new algorithm. These are the links:-

64 bit Windows:-

.rar fille https://www.dropbox.com/s/hiadf8o5u7bsit7/XMGpoolminerWin64.rar?dl=0

self-extracting .exe [urlhttps://www.dropbox.com/s/dw7yjssjrrqp0m1/XMGpoolminerWin64.exe?dl=0][/url]

32 bit Windows:-

.rar file https://www.dropbox.com/s/dii8cvz7lp8xuey/XMGpoolminerWin32.rar?dl=0

self-extracting .exe https://www.dropbox.com/s/qlak24sxn6ookaz/XMGpoolminerWin32.exe?dl=0

These packages include my Windows batch file "wrappers" for best performance. Please see the read.me file for more info and refer to this earlier post too https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.9285948

To estimate the hashrate that you can expect with the new algorithm, go to this web site https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php and find the Passmark for your CPU. Divide the Passmark figure by 1000, then:-

For 64 bit hashrate in Kh/s, multiply by pi (3.142)

For 32 bit hashrate in Kh/s, multiply by 2

Please post details of any problems you get with this software. I will be around for quite a few hours yet before the urge to sleep overcomes me Smiley It is 3am here.
