COin has dropped in price a lot. This is a good price to buy in. This is going to be one of the best coins.

I agree. This time its better to buy than sell.
I mean Magi has only launched a little over 3 weeks ago
There are too many good developments on the way. So I sell nothing!  Grin

If a block reward was not necessarily given to the one who solved the block and instead went to a randomly chosen node, what dynamic would that create on pools, hash farms, high hashrates, solo mining etc.

Just a thoght.

Coin of the Magi!
The big miners will try to come because they know the benefits this new algo brings to the table. We can try to a little different concept...

This is just my suggestion... what about lowering the block payouts when higher hash comes, then go back to normal when it levels out?  Because the potential of the big miners dumping is more than likely.. so even if the regular miners are getting essentially less XMG until those miners leave, it is keeping the price point stable enough and attracting the interest of the long term growth of magi.  So.. it wouldn't be hurting the overall ROI as they would be if they were allowed to continue...

So I agree, restricting hash rate or blocking payout after 'X' amount of hashrate or another method, is very logical in its success.

Just my thought. I don't see it as a big problem, but it can be once more people find out about magi  !

Any ideas guys?

It might be worth to get a heavier sharpness in cutting off rewards when big miners come to the network. However, the reason of big miners staying in pools could be because of the fluctuation of net hashrate. The fluctuation causes the average block reward higher than the minimum, that seems still attractive to big miners. (general miners will be happy, but remember big miners will be more happy with that).

According to the diff vs time graph, the lowest diff is around 2, corresponding to block reward of ~200 XMG. diff = 2 means hashrate is a little bit less than 50 MH/s. Notice that the block reward will remain to be 5 XMG if hashrate > 55 MH/s. That being said, if we add 10 MH/s into the network, what gonna happen? The minimum net hashrate will be 60 MH/s, block reward will be at 5 XMG; surely this is a bad news to general miners, but will be rather worse to big miners (I assume they do care about the earnings, not something like unbelievable crazy guys).

So that's why we need the PoM campaign! All, please contribute the hashrate as much as possible, and sign up the campaign.

I always have something to say.
Do you want me to say something that will make network hashrate lower? But you might not like it Smiley

as long as blow away big miners pls. Wink

Guys, put XMG address in your sig so that others can tip you when you helped them.

Says the most helpful user with no xmg address in his sig.  Cheesy

Just wanted to say I bought some xmg traded in my magicoin and dedicated some cores to mine.

Will attempt to bring my less tech savvy friends into the magi fold and put their computers to work.

Very nice, evilmuffinman.

I believe help & thanks (tips) will help us each other and make us a nice community too.

Tips are a great idea! Helps us to encourage helping each other and something nice to look for.  The more the coins spread around the better for us all.  I've got Kestrel, Condor and Owl (computers) mining away but usually not all at the same time unless the net hash rate drops.

Somehow our recent updates get big miners back.
https://bchain.info/XMG/

A slight increase in difficulty happened after a few updates since 09/28. We have about 570 active miners.

@Bojcha I know you have a lot to say, while I am not able to solve about that effectively Smiley people smart enough get me a solution I'll go with, while I am keeping thinking about what to do.

And I think no one wants to change the block reward any more, right? Anyone? (personally I do like to)

On XMG:
cpuminer_win64_magi_byMarcusDe-core2-0922 on i5-670 (default 3.46Ghz & TurboBoost 3.66Ghz) "-t 2 --benchmark" > hashrate ~22kh;
cpuminer_win64_magi_byMarcusDe-core2-0922 on Q9550 (overclocked 3.4Ghz) "-t 2 --benchmark"> hashrate ~21kh.
...I5-670...
This processor does not support AVX instruction set so it is at a disadvantage straight away unfortunately.
Really. But, i wrote about the AES. Also it is not supported, sorry... I'm correct here:
Need optimized miner for i5-670 with instruction SSE 4.2 and others , added in i5-670 after Q9550.

Example on X11:
darkCoin-cpuminer-1.3 better darkCoin-cpuminer-1.2 by ~29% on i5-670 (default 3.46Ghz & TurboBoost 3.66Ghz).
"minerd-aes-sse2-sss3.exe -t 2 --benchmark" > hashrate ~163 kh; aes-sse2-sss3: Optimized for generic processors supporting the AES-NI, SSE2 and SSSE3 instructions set.
DarkCoin-cpuminer-1.2 on i5-670 > hashrate ~132kh.

At the same time darkCoin-cpuminer-1.3 does not work on the Q9550. And Q9550 (overclocked 3.4Ghz) work only darkCoin-cpuminer-1.2 ("minerd.exe -t 2 --benchmark" > hashrate ~100 kh).

Understood, but you cannot compare Darkcoin with XMG even for a minute, since the hash algorithms are very different. The source code for the XMG miner (not written by me and available here https://github.com/noncepool/m7magi-cpuminer) states in the documentation that it provides specific support for the XOP, AVX and AVX2 instruction sets provided that both the processor and operating system used have support for those. There is a specific mention of the SSE2 instruction set only, so I would take a wild guess that the later SSE instruction sets have no bearing on the mathematical functions used in the miner code, but I stand to be corrected on this. The hashrate that you are getting is nevertheless a little lower than I would expect and certainly the Q9550 ought to be started with -t 4 (4 threads, one per core) to give you something in the region of 40 Kh/s. The i5-670 would be expected to give around 30~32 Kh/s so that is a bit of a puzzle. It would be worth checking using Task Manager that the processor is being fully utilized - maxed out 100% - and that it is not spending an excessive amount of time in Kernel mode, plus trying starting two instances of minerd.exe with -t 1 to see if it makes any difference. Certainly try MarcusDe' core2 miner and my generic version to look for any variance there too. Give that a go and report back here if you would please - I will try to help as much as I can.
