What does 'Magi' mean? Is there background story?
Yes, there is.But we hold this question for Joe when he gets back from his trip to other side of the USA.
The picture (avatar) he uses is from a Japanese anime.
Just a thougth. For lots of people digital currency is kind of Magic.
Magi (Coin of the Magi) has his => Magic block reward system and many more awesome developments.
If i just translate Magi into Dutch its Magi: Magi like in Magical, Magicians, Kings, Wizard and Philosopher.
Funny! Wink

His picture looks like Ranma 1/2

But there is an anime called magi, which I posted about here a little earlier...

Haha it looks like a quiz! I give 100 XMG for the right answer.

Just to add my two pennies to the discussion about the origins of magi. I have always understood that The Magi were the three wise men in The Bible that visited the baby Jesus and offered gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
Oh I don't know about that...

You mean this one Spexx.

I'm almost sure Joe meant this : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magi:_The_Labyrinth_of_Magic
But I like the (three) wise men better... who went to the East of the Netherlands (UT) (dutch joke!)

You might right the Frisian! Think Joe gave an answer before on this in the thread. I will look in the thread to see if I can fond his answer. Don't remember if hè gave specific answer or just "Japanese anime" .
Maybe this one? https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.8441179
No thats not the one I mean. We need to find it on the last 25 pages of the thread. Wink
Then you need to find it on Joe's latest post Cheesy

Mining Co-operative

Yes. Precisely that.

It is also possible to buy a (supposedly) genuine original Roman bronze Coin of the Magi from Amazon. I am not tempted myself though.
