Something like that?  Cool

Yep. That qualifies. I did not specify that it had to be done in ASCII and you were the first.

20 XMG on its way Smiley
Sweet! Thanks!

Thanks for that Joe. I think that we can make this a bit more interesting.

I will donate 200 XMG to the author of the design which gains the most votes.

Joe - you decide on how the vote will be carried out and what the deadline for submissions will be.

Google searched some more information, interesting

http://bitcoinsymbol.org
http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-foundation-standardise-bitcoin-symbol-code-next-year/
http://www.coindesk.com/industry-website-advocate-bitcoins-unicode-symbol/

Existing bitcoin symbols: B, ฿ or Ƀ (Ƀ is Unicode Character U+0243), while BTC is actually the logo.

p.s., we should call bitcoin as XBT instead of BTC. Cheesy

I like this part. Cheesy
XMG is everything that BTC isn't

I have a whole bunch of one-liners like that for XMG and I really wanted to enter that slogan competition, but figured that it would be kinder to let others have a chance of winning Wink

Definitely agree that we need to have a look at an entire collection of suggestions for the currency symbol and vote on it

Here is my suggestion:-

https://www.dropbox.com/s/jnnrv98631h99h1/sigma.jpg

(one day I will work out how to post an image - have not sussed it yet)

The image function with dropbox link is not working, so I uploaded it to our server, here is how it looks like:

The code for posting image (the last two for different image sizes):  Smiley

So it will be this one?

Hope not. Frankly, I hate it. The serifs on the bars look awful. It might look better in a non-serif font, but I still don't like the fact that it looks like a BTC symbol clone in this format. XMG is everything that BTC isn't, so I would prefer the horizontal bar style.

The font doesn't matter since it can be changed as wish. What we need is to decide the style firstly. I agree with no clone, however it'll be advantageous that the symbol itself tells that it represents for a cryptocurrency.

I will create / collect a few different styles, and let's vote for them.

@others, let me know if you have a different design.

This is the minimum amount of HTML that I can use to implement a sigma with double horizontal lines.

Code:
Σ=

(At font size 5, use -14px and at font size 7 use -28px)
Don't use px. Try:

Code:

Σ=

Σ=

Σ=

Σ=

Σ=

Σ=

Which one you like? Seems like the vertical bar version not looking good.

Is there a way to create a text symbol? That'll be easy to use, just copy & paste.

Vertical bar? How about this:

By the way, I think using Σ is the fastest and the easiest.

Looks nice to me..

Is it better to mine on a pool that have a lot of people or less ?

Ideally a pool with enough people to find blocks often, but not one that has an imbalance in hash power. Your best bet is to spread the hash and join a pool that might need a few more people to keep things even.

I agree entirely.

In addition, on a smaller pool there is a better chance of seeing your limited hashrate contribution in the list of the top twenty contributors. That kinda feels good Wink

From my observations over the longer term, there appears to be little difference in the bottom-line-earnings obtained from a large pool or a small one.

BTW congratulations to XMGpool http://xmgpool.cf/ for reaching the first milestone of 2 Mh/s total hashrate. That did not take very long. Onwards and upwards.

Ladies and Gentlemen. Today we have a ...

New Windows Mining Software Release

32 bit and 64 bit Windows supported.

...

There is a bug in it. Oops. Some flavors of Windows will generate an error message about qprocess during the setup. However, I have already fixed it and made it available on the same links as before.

If you have already downloaded and installed and got it working, then you do not need the bug-fixed version.

panosst, the html code is nice, thanks. I made few changes:
Code:

Σ

Σ

Σ

Σ

Σ

Σ

Also latex is very nice to do the job. An example:

Code:
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage{amsmath,amssymb,bm}%AMS math formulas and symbols, bold
\usepackage{graphicx} % for \scalebox macro
\usepackage{color}
\begin{document}
$\mathrel{\ooalign{\hss$\Sigma$\hss\cr%
  \kern0ex\raise0.9ex\hbox{\scalebox{0.5}{${\bm{-}}$}}}}$
$\mathrel{\ooalign{\hss$\Sigma$\hss\cr%
  \kern0ex\raise0.1ex\hbox{\scalebox{0.5}{${\bm{-}}$}}}}$

$\mathrel{\ooalign{\hss$\Sigma$\hss\cr%
  \kern0ex\raise0.9ex\hbox{\scalebox{0.5}{${\bm{=}}$}}}}$
$\mathrel{\ooalign{\hss$\Sigma$\hss\cr%
  \kern0ex\raise0.1ex\hbox{\scalebox{0.5}{${\bm{=}}$}}}}$

$\mathrel{\ooalign{\hss$\Sigma$\hss\cr%
  \kern0.1ex\raise0.45ex\hbox{\scalebox{0.5}{$\bm{{=}}$}}}}$
$\mathrel{\ooalign{\hss$\Sigma$\hss\cr%
  \kern0ex\raise0.325ex\hbox{\scalebox{0.8}{${{=}}$}}}}$

$\mathrel{\ooalign{\hss$\Sigma$\hss\cr%
  \kern0.65ex\raise0.3ex\hbox{\scalebox{0.85}{${\lvert\!\rvert}$}}}}$
$\mathrel{\ooalign{\hss$\Sigma$\hss\cr%
  \kern0.15ex\raise0.3ex\hbox{\scalebox{0.85}{${\lvert\!\rvert}$}}}}$
\end{document}

The above two methods create the following symbols (1st - html, 2nd - latex):

Which one you like? Seems like the vertical bar version not looking good.
