If any of you want to test miners for the new transition algorithm, head to our Slack and head to the #mining channel.

Source code (still not final and in testing so no official support will be provided)

https://github.com/aizensou/cpuminer-xzc (CPU)
https://github.com/djm34/sgminer-msvc2015 (AMD)
https://github.com/djm34/ccminer-msvc2015 (Nvidia)

We'll push it to the main Zcoin github once it's finalized.

Judging by how many people are already awaiting the GPU launch, it probably won't be that much profitable for long.

A lot of competition in this business.

don't worry i will compile it and share it here if they won't provide a binary

Doing God's work there friend. Looking forward to throwing a GPU rig at this one just for fun.

Haha well no advantage for having the miners now unless you're a miner developer who wishes to optimize Cheesy

The new algo hasn't kicked in yet. Have 500 blocks to go or about 3.5 days.

Where can i get the miner source (cpu&gpu), wanna look into it.

Same here please. Would be great to have a couple days prior to the algo change to compile the miners.

Agreed, 1-2 days head-start over the blockchain would give people an equal chance of getting up and running instead of the usual 'instamine fest'.

Will the miner be precompiled for Windows x64? I am hoping for a smooth release and not the usual 'here's a bag of code on github, you figure it out while 3 people instamine 1000 blocks'.

3.5 days that I can still use my current cpu miner basically before it stops working or the network hash rate is blown up by GPU mining?

Would you upload the chain synced. I've tried to resync with the previous version of windows-QT wallet , and got stucked on block 18200...

Read more here.

Miners will be released in the next 24 hours.

o hey sweeet!    KInda sux that us peons wont get the miners for 24 hours, but i understand, you need to get pools and such updated, its cool, im just excited to test some GPUs on the new algo haha!
please make sure to build binaries so we can all try get in the mix ASAP, and good job! Keep on Keeping on! ;p

in supernova it shows ./ in front of cpuminer, and without the .exe

That's how you would run the command if you were on Ubuntu or any other Linux OS. Can you paste your whole command?

Suprnova seems down for me right now also, wouldn't cause your miner to error out.

Turns out that supernova is linked to an incomplete miner for windows.

ya i got them from where i mentioned, pinned to #mining in slack ;p
i take it that means you got it up and running then i hope? Smiley  ya its not a big deal at this point cause ya as OC said below, there will be new miners and hence new binaries anywayz soon ;p

Binarys got removed, however a new miner will be out with the new algo soon

Btw we have an ongoing poll on our Slack channel on exploring the implementation of incentivized nodes (Znodes) to help with Zerocoin spend transactions.

Quote
What are your thoughts on implementing a super/masternode like system for Zcoin? Nothing binding and still in the early brain storming stage (also still need to assess technical feasibility). We just want to assess community sentiment.

Currently  Zerocoin mints cost 0.1 XZC and spends are free. It's important to have a fee for minting to reduce spam but because processing Zerocoin spend transactions consume cpu resources (few seconds) with no fee, this makes it a problem for mining pools who dislike processing them.

One way is to relook at the fee structure and perhaps reduce the mint fee and have a spend transaction fee as well so to give pools some incentive to process them. We are unsure if this alone is incentive enough and as it scales, crappy nodes (such as rasp pis) will also have issues.

So on top of the relook of the fee structure, we are exploring a masternode like system where special nodes will incentivized to process spend transactions and take the load off pools and weak nodes. There will be a refundable collateral to ensure there's a stake involved so that damaging actions would also hurt their own investment. Currently we are not looking at instant transactions nor are we looking at voting using nodes.

More details available in #poll channel.
