Question to the dev, how did you do the trusted setup?

Zoin uses the same key as ZCoin, that is a RSA key from the 1991 key factoring challenge. I guess if the key hasn't been factored in 25 years it should be secure enough.

Had a few spare minutes and set up a pool here:

https://zoin.suprnova.cc

However, I yet have to fix estimates and hashrate, will do that asap when time allows.

Block finding/Payouts etc should be fine.

Using a zcoin miner doesn't seem to work. what should I use?

you have to use the zoin miner:

https://github.com/zoin/cpuminer-zoin

cpuminer -a lyra2zoin -o stratum+tcp://zoin.suprnova.cc:2876 -u suprnova.1 -p x
can someone compile the windows version please?

OCminer could you please  compile the windows version?

Followed the instructions for compiling an ubuntu version https://github.com/zoin/cpuminer-zoin#note-for-debianubuntu-users

After the steps, where I do go to actually run the miner?

Same question here, in new in the mining wolrd

@Edit: i'm getting this error: -bash: ./minerd: No such file or directory

You need to navigate to the folder by using commands "dir" to see current directory and then use "cd folder_name" and you should see the "cpuminer" file if you compiled by using ./build.sh from the folder.  Then follow https://zoin.suprnova.cc/index.php?page=gettingstarted

Hope this helps

Baidu                    Win32.Trojan.WisdomEyes.16070401.9500.9890   20161104
CAT-QuickHeal   Trojan.Ircbot.18078   20161105
ESET-NOD32   a variant of Win32/BitCoinMiner.BJ potentially unsafe   20161105
K7AntiVirus           Unwanted-Program ( 004baab71 )   20161105
K7GW           Unwanted-Program ( 004baab71 )   20161105
Sophos           Bitcoin Miner (PUA)   20161105

This is not good and posed a big threat for the users machine,these are credible anti virus,better us it on virtual machine especially that a newbie is the dev of this coin.

Was this resolved ?

whatever folder zcoind is in

nano ~/.zoin/zoin.conf

Example zoin.conf:

rpcuser=myusername
rpcpassword=mypassword
server=1

Then:

./zoind --daemon
./zoind getinfo
./zoind setgenerate true 4

this coin is definitely cpu friendly.Noticed that running all my cores at 100% gives a 58°~60°C max heat Grin

Well, if you CPU is running at 58°~60°C while running 100% on this coin, then it will also run at 58°~60°C if you ran something else at 100%.

ohhhh snap, I had a spare vultr instance and got it mining with you without fucking it up! Never successfully compiled a miner on an instance and got it mining before. Some of your tech smarts are rubbing off on me. Thanks oc!

Took my i7-6400 off ZEC and will grind on ZOI for awhile, too.

Your instance running windows?

Nope ubuntu

Ok, it says in the OP

Wallet mining

Windows: From debug window: setgenerate true 4

How do I do this. I've never done this before and have no idea where to go. I read earlier to go to the console window, but I can't find that.

Open wallet. go to menu-help-Debug window-console.

Quote
setgenerate true 4
4 - its core. if you have 8 or more type 8 and more.

Thank you. Know I see why only have of my CPUs were in use.

Edit: I think I figured it out. 52% CPU usage.
