Yes there are cheaters everywhere. I agree that people should buy token instead of getting free tokens, especially the token is likely to have some value. People who believe in the token's value will hold. It is actually better for those who do not believe to sell early at a low price ;-)

Meanwhile, most people in the airdrop only get a small number of tokens that will sit in their wallet forever. They will not send the tokens to exchanges to sell unless the value of the tokens are more valuable than the gas fee. So no worries, the process has been well thought and discussed.

To get network effect, we have to have publicity. The airdrop get people's attention that we do not get otherwise. Should we spend money on advertisement, or should we directly give our tokens to those who paid attention? We would like to pay to those who receive the message, not to a middleman. (I hope anyone can teach me how to use the Basic Attention Token now.)
