I think everyone here realizes that there is NO substantial buy support until you get down to prices at 10% of current price. Anyone or group of people who try to dump any large amount of coins now will have to seriously tank the price. Sure they could put in sell orders at high prices but I just don't see buyers falling for that given everyone is on edge right now curious to see what happens with the airdrop. Time for some more popcorn I guess.

I am confused why some people are claiming that all the Icelanders claiming their coins right now are getting ~$350 equivalent when there is no way more than a hand full could get even close to that if they sold all their coins right now.

Try to show some imagination. If you have the regulated crypto currency exchange open in New York, and investors can see Icelanders using ATMs and using Auroracoin in shops, then they will pull money out of poorly performing stocks and get in on the new game in town. That will make today's marketcaps look pretty small.

Man you have some serious imagination I will give you that. All I stated was the facts of the current market. Nothing more. Nothing less. I am as curious as the next guy to see what happens here. I just hope the Icelanders don't end up worse off.

If everyone starts to sell them, then you are right.
But if everyone starts to *use* them, then they really can be worth $350 or even a lot more.

I am already right. Nothing I said is incorrect atm.
Yes. Someone tell everyone to never sell their coins. I am trying to point out that the true value per coin in large lots is not 0.02 BTC or whatever it is atm. It is much less. At most 0.002 or so with this current buy support. Likely even less. Any "use" of them will probably reflect this.

So far there are no 31.8 coin sell orders..

hehe. would likely have to be 31.7999 (or 31.8 minus whatever the default fee is), though.

EDIT: how many downloads are you seeing of the android wallet, btw?

I don't know, it is not yet on the shop..

Has made his account after Auroracoin was announced (new account).

Every person on reddit, claiming that they received their AUR, started posting after Auroracoin was announced too (new accounts).

That's a little bit strange.

That's incorrect, this post is the highest upvoted post on /r/auroracoin from someone who says they claimed their coins.

http://www.reddit.com/r/auroracoin/comments/21a321/im_an_icelander_that_had_my_doubts_about_this/

If you look at their profile, they have been on Reddit for 1 year, they're not "new".

This literally took me seconds to check after reading your post. But you couldn't go to /r/auroracoin and double check your false claims?

I have to say I'm surprised at the number of claims (785 currently).

I'd have expected no more than 100 to 300 claims on the first day to be honest.

At the current rate (3.5 claims per minute) we might even reach 3,200 today, which would be 1% (!!!) of the population. We would have to call that a great success. I'm already inclined to do so now, at least if those claims are indeed not fraudulent.

Little Timmy doesn't give a sht about risk/reward, all he wants is his dad to cash in his coins so he can go buy a new bicycle.

What if the bicycle shop accepts aur?

What if mobile phone shop accepts auroracoin.. and helps you claim them when buying one, to the phone you just bought ;-)
So you could go empty handed to a shop, walk out with a brand new android tablet loaded with 25 Auroras :-P

Many people here thought there wouldn't be an airdrop, and that this was a scam. Well it's not. So already Auroracoin is a bigger success than Obamacare in the US  Cheesy. I'm holding my Auroracoins, but this is a good time to buy. If I was an Icelander I would be selling a portion of my freecoins and converting to Bitcoin. A steady price is good for Auroracoin right now, but some infrastructure and media is what will slowly drive the price up. Great for investors, great job so far. Smiley

This could actually get Iceland out of a pickle.

I know this is a approximation, but there are currently 532 outputs with a value of 31.8 AUR:

abe=# select count(*) from txout where txout_value=3180000000;
 count
-------
   533

This implies that roughly 533 Icelanders have claimed their coins. It's also consistent with the information on auroracoin.org.

EDIT: 3 minutes later it's 5 more transactions.

Facebook Auth seams not to work for many islandic users. (Looks like it.)

It wouldnt surprise me. Look at Obama care. Huge companies and the US government couldnt get that to launch with out flaws.

Exactly. This would be Ideal But I am not even saying it has to be this. This of what you can buy for $350. Those are nice items but not going to change your life. Now if AUR starts to get accepted or people do not just dump as soon as they get them and show the market that there is a chance fore this coin then you might be able to buy the Bike shop with your coins(I know I doubt it). My point is you are playing with house money if someone gives me $20 and says you can keep this or you can invest in this start up lemonade stand in the mall parking lot in summer. Ok well there is nothing saying people will buy the lemonade but there is a chance that $20 could turn into $100. $20 buys you a meal 100 could buy you a few meals. Now scale it to what this coin could become. There are lower total coin cap then BTC, you just exposed large group of people. And if those people hold and show they will not dump it the investors will follow. Your crazy if you think Whales will only invest in BTC because it was the first, If AUR has staying power they will jump in. maybe not to the extend of BTC but you will get plenty. However my gut feeling is most people will say sweet $350 I will take it and not think about crypto's again.
