I'd like to offer a pool for this coin but have been unable to get the nomp stratum to connect to the coin. if there something unique about this coin that I should know about. I have 40 other coins connected fine to the stratum server but this one throws an error.
This coin requires modifications to the source to support stratum.

use latest git, it includes a dnsseed.
the last one I found is 0.6.3 if I'm not mistaken. But it is the one which writes me out of sync. If there's a newer version compiled for win platform, I would be very grateful to get the link to it. After the original developer, Cubox, abandoned the coin, a few people got together and started to update the client. This happened about 6 months ago, as you can see from the thread linked above.
It seems CaptChadd tried to fork BBQCoin; he didn't get any input from the community, nor from any of the other developers, and so his attempt was rejected. I had CaptChadd on ignore but forgot why until I read the following thread and realized (again) that it's because he's an idiot: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=198329.340. His thread is a joke: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/bbqcoinorg-official-thread-198329. The thread doesn't contain any useful information in the OP post and it helps nobody.
