Yes, it seems that people are not being able to get their FOOD at the moment because both exchanges are having problems: alcurEX has had to reboot and yet has not started, and C-CEX is still "out of sync". It's a pitty, but I am sure as soon as these problems are solved the whales will be able to get their food... (... and we, baby whales, to grow stronger Cheesy

Do not use rpcallowip=*. You are opening up your wallet for remote RPC which can be used to steal all of your coins. Use rpcallowip=127.0.0.1 if you want local daemon access or better yet, do as others have suggested and just use the basics.

try'd and to no avail still not syncing so look's like i'm stuck until more nodes or Dev can fix it

My wallet is syncing fine, try searching for "qt wallet connection timeout", maybe you'll find some kind of answer.
