I've been intensively following and participating in Nxt at the beginning.
It is now the 3rd most successful crypto in the world and should reach 2nd place soon.

The reason why it is successful is its organisation.
The day the crypto was launched, its creator disappeared and left everything in the hands of the early adopters.
At this time, anyone would say the crypto was doomed but the early adopters seen this as an opportunity and seized it.
It started really simply with discussing on the main thread and making proposals.
As it got bigger, people started to create separate thread with questions and voting.
Then the community organized itself by creating funds and committee.
The idea was that there is no creator, no boss so only the very motivated and very competent people should take decision in particular field.
The community had to elect members of committee based on their reputation and statement.
Funds where used to pay members of different committee and to raise bounty for special missions like finding bug and flaw.
No one would take decision in a field that he is not specialized but everyone had to express his opinion.

Nxt has now a separated forum. Have a look at the committees section, there is 3 kinds of committee :
Marketing-committee
Infrastructure-committee
Technical-development

The strength of this organisation is that anyone can be replaced. Some members of committee have left of died ? Doesn't matter : replace them and keep going on !
This is how you make an unstoppable crypto.

--

I am not saying that we need this kind of organisation right now but we definitely need to aim for it in a near future.
We should start with talking right here and discuss ideas. When we start to disagree, we should put things on vote on separate threads.

My address is 1EyHoCsDucQzWghwnMkeDHpn195EMkezFY and Venetian's is 1JAKTkPAuzbi3m9LopdiPCdviexqXiLFGA. We own 15.1k and 13.4k CHA respectively, and we will not be selling on an exchange any time soon.

Dayum, I already sold 28.6k of my CHA on Poloniex

I've pretty much been constantly dumping to invest in anon coins.

I'm done dumping.  Planning to hold my remaining 10k CHA to the moon.

Chancecoin has a very bright future.

Chancecoiners,
...

Awesome stuff guys - excited to see your commitment and where CHA is going.

I suggest you open a separate thread for bounties, moreover it would be a good idea will be to have a public Trello board, showing the current tasks, the progress and the available bounties. Also would be a good idea to call the community pledge for bounties.

Just my 2 CHA.

Chancecoiners,

I'm very happy to see the active discussion about marketing and promotion.

I just want everyone to know that CHA is not dead and CHA will not die. Venetian and I are both very invested in the coin. We both believe CHA is worth at least $10M USD in total market capitalization, and we would hesitate to sell any CHA even at that valuation. In fact, in a few years, I think we'll all be laughing that I at one point suggested a valuation so small.

We created Chancecoin for a number of reasons. One of those reasons is that we want to make money on it. But the biggest reason we created Chancecoin is that we believe a fully decentralized casino is something that just ought to exist. We are invested in the coin and the idea, and we will do whatever it takes to make sure Chancecoin is the coin we're all happily gambling with on the moon in twenty years time, when cryptocurrency has completely replaced fiat.

Venetian and I have been working on new single-player casino games that we hope to have ready soon. Here's a screenshot of the poker game we're working on:

In order to get it work, we've had to make some protocol-level changes that will make it easier to add more games in the future. In terms of a priority list for future development, we're currently looking at:

  • Single-player casino games (poker, blackjack, roulette, color wheel, etc.) -- this is what we're currently working on.
  • Sports betting -- we're also watching the development of Countersports as we eye this market.
  • Stock price betting

Note that for sports betting and stock price betting, there is some question about how we would implement it, how decentralized it would be, etc., but let's save those discussions for the future.

It's true we've been doing more developing than marketing lately. I think the development work and innovation is very important, but it's also important for us to start marketing and promoting now. We do have some ideas of our own, but we also readily admit that we might not be the best people when it comes to marketing skill. We would love for the community to step up here. Whether that means we all chip in and hire someone, or we all chip in with our own skillsets, let's get it done.

Venetian and I are pledging 250 CHA to get the ball rolling. Our plan is to release the single-player casino games in the coming weeks, and then launch a promotion to get people gambling more. We strongly believe that if there is genuine gambling action happening on Chancecoin, then the value of the coin will increase. The promotion will probably be: 250 CHA to the biggest winner for the month of July.

Here's what I see as our community todo list for marketing and promotion:

  • Social media -- Front page of Bitcoin sub-reddit, Hacker News
  • Get on exchanges -- Poloniex, Bter, etc.
  • Get on Coinmarketcap
  • Get on blogs and Internet publications -- CoinDesk, TechCrunch, etc.
  • Get in major newspapers -- let's aim for the New York Times, which should be doable if we spin it right
  • Promotions to encourage gambling
  • Bitcointalk signature campaign
  • Faucet

What do you all think? Let's make this happen as a community.

While I do agree that it would be nice to hear from the devs, I do think that as a community we need to gather funds and hire someone.

A dev cannot promote. Software development and marketing are total opposite skills.

This is utter nonsense.   Marketing can be something as little as making frequent posts in the bitcointalk thread about ideas, updates, potential projects, bounties, giveaways, etc, you get the point.  This all starts from the developers.  If they aren't willing to at least do that, then the coin will just die and everything was for nothing.  Many developers do this and these coins have a decent size or growing community.  Unless...unless the devs have no stake in their own coin anymore.   Huh Shocked Undecided  This would be crazy because it's obvious to me they made something unique and fun.  There's so much potential here it would be a shame to see it go down the drain.

A dev that promote is a dev that is not coding and is promoting very badly.
Tell me one single example of a successful innovative crypto where the only dev is also the only doing marketing??
Well don't try, it doesn't exist unless you have in mind the hundred of scam or pump&dump coin released every month?
If you are looking for these kind of coin, feel free to dump your CHA to buy these crap.

CHA need more staff like all serious crypto.

This is the typical response from someone that doesn't want to see the truth about what's happening.

While I agree with you, number one priority for a dev should be development. Coins don't fail because a lack of marketing, but because a lack of innovation. No amount of marketing can compensate for that. (Except maybe in the case of doge, but there marketing was actually the innovative, new selling point)

It depends on your definition of fail. IMO, Chancecoin is failing right now.

We need a list of people wiling to promote. Each person have to describe its skills/experience/motivations.

We'll vote and elect 1 (or more) people to be promoter/marketer.

These people will be paid for their work by the community.

NAS Non-centralized block dice gaming system is out.
competition is always good.
Waiting to hear updates from our ASWOME devs!

I think the Devs should hire a marketing person to promote Chancecoin.

We need things like:
- faucet
- website development
- writing articles bounty
- signature giveaway is a good way to get Chancecoin exposed (like this: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/qora-giveaway-2nd-gen-new-source-thousands-of-coins-for-everyone-623943, made by argan)

Yeah, this is very perplexing.  The devs create this really cool coin and decided to put zero effort into promoting it.
agreed, the dev should spend more effort to communicate with the community to promot the coin,
we all like it.

If I understand correctly the NAS system can be gamed.
I am not very techy but from the discussion we had in this thread - it makes sense what you are saying.

If I understand correctly the NAS system can be gamed.

It takes the last 2 digits of the block that includes the transaction.

If you are a big stake holder you forge blocks regularly, so you can place your bet only if you know that you will forge the next block and you will win. (You only broadcast the block if you win).
