It looks like there is a lot of movement in this thread, that is just awesome Smiley
Transcoder is back here, working on it. So it all looks great.
After spending some time looking at the logos etc i agree with judyballhairy that actually the logo is great and does not need any changes. Still i do not see anything bad in making a CSC accepted here logo, we do not even have to use it, but better to have it if needed Smiley

I am very happy that transcoder is back and i would love to hear what he has to say about developing the coin, adding more developers into it etc.

Also the idea of creating a foundation/committee that thinks of the future of the coin and is driven by the community sounds amazing. Again, lets hear what transcoder and casinocoin have to say about it. I am sure that with something like that this coin has a very nice future.

About the 2 web pages, to be honest i do not care what the name will be, but i still think that one official web page, with one official logo etc, one official forum ( just as judyballhairy said ) will be the best.
Right now both web pages look decent but we want them to look great, so maybe we can think in that direction ? Getting a better design ? Thoughts ?

Lets get that community going and growing Smiley

@casinocoin
As you already know i am currently working on a mobile CSC wallet. I also started working on a mobile CSC Blackjack game but both take some time as i do this in my spare time. The blackjack game will need the mobile CSC wallet, so i will first terminate the wallet and then continue with the game.

I do not have the intention to put the game in the market myself as i am not sure about all legal issues surrounding that. For now it seems there is no need for a official casino license as that is only required for casinos that use real money but anyway, i am a developer and do not have the intentions to run a casino. I would like to profit of a casino game i build on a regular basis though and not only with a one time payment so if a percentage of the profits would be negotiable i would be interested. Any way, as already said it would take some time and i will contact you when i have something finished to show you.

Thanks for investing your time in a blackjackgame and mobile wallet for CSC. Sounds good.

@jakiman - I've temporarily updated the forum link in the footer to point to @casinocoin's forum at http://forums.casinocoin.org -- however, I will update the DNS entry for http://forum.casinoco.in to point to @casinocoin's server that is hosting the forum so that all official CasinoCoin related links are on the casinoco.in domain to avoid any confusion. It will take time for the DNS update to propagate, and I've contacted @casinocoin about a minor update that he needs to make on his server.

Can we also create a DNS entry for block explorer, explorer.casinoco.in IN CNAME casinocoin.mooo.com. It would make it look more professional Smiley I'm happy to host it for you, also happy to change stuff around if needed.

@kopam - great points that you raised here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.4323355

I'll be working next on a page that displays the current CSC exchange rate (ie. value at Crypsty) as well as currency exchange rate (ie. USD, Yuan, Yen, etc) and will post links to these pages when they are ready.

Regarding the official CasinoCoin images, there are 3 official images on the CasinoCoin press kit page:
http://casinoco.in/presskit

The first 2 are the official logos -- the first has the full spelling of CasinoCoin in it, while the second one is a simple icon. Regarding the 3rd image on that page, that is more like a rendered image of what a physical CasinoCoin would look like if there ever were to be one Smiley

Just a quick update before I head off to work. I'll check back tonight and go through my backlog of PMs.

  • A tutorials page has been created at: http://casinoco.in/tutorials -- currently it as a simple solo CPU mining tutorial that I previously wrote, and also has @murderouskirk's great guide on mining CasinoCoin. Let me know if you have any suggestions on additional guides that need to be written or links to other existing guides that I may have missed.
  • Links in the footer on the CasinoCoin homepage have been cleaned up -- no more broken links! (thanks @kopam)
  • The pools list has been updated in the first post of this thread

In need of Developers:

We as community can devolop by ourselves, but maybe we can make deals with others?

Maybe we can make a win-win deal with

http://www.softswiss.com/

They accepted bitcoin as the main coin. I don't know who and how to make a deal, but maybe something to consider to contact them? Just and only for us a Casinocoin solution instead of a Bitcoin casino would be nice. No license required.

Muchas gracias  Wink

Or is this o no-no? Grin

I'm trying to create a testnet for CasinoCoin, has this been done already, and if not can someone check out my work at https://github.com/ZenProductions/casinocoin-testnet/ and let me know what I need to fix to get this working?

I'm trying to compile the source on a Ubuntu server (12.04 LTS). However when I try to run the make command, it errors on me (litecoin source doesn't), here's the gist of it.

make -f makefile.unix USE_UPNP=-

cannot create obj/build.h: Directory Nonexistent
make: *** [obj/build.h] Error 2

Edit: Found a solution, you need to type

mkdir obj

in the source folder to create the folder it wants, and it will compile. :/

Anyways, devs please update the source with this folder included for future compilers please.

jakiman is back!
I don't think this is confusing, or an issue in any sense.  I also think if the logo is changed, it's not going to be easy to make something that is universally accepted as "better".  I think the quality of the branding now is good enough to not waste time trying to change it at this point.

Hmm. Come to think of it, I agree with you. Logo is definitely down in the list of importance right now IMO.
I actually like the current red C logo of this coin. it stands out and is easy to spot even at coinwarz. =)

Other graphics, like "CasinoCoin Accepted Here" or whatever are putting the cart before the horse.  Development stability needs to come first.  On the dev side, what's needed is for a dev TEAM to be extremely active on this forum to build confidence.  If Transcoder is still doing the dev alone, it's not enough.  Unless he's able to pull all nighters to be extremely active in the community, while continuously showing that he's developing and improving the coin, confidence is going to fizzle out and it will die again.  Other developers need to be RECRUITED, or at the very least, a community manager who is in close touch with the dev team needs to be brought in.  This person must be able to answer any question about the dev at any time.  First question: is there any development of the coin going on right now, or are we just riding on the name of the coin?  The second resource that needs to come in, whether it's Transcoder's time, or him adding someone to help is: what are the future plans for the coin (not the eco-system around it).  Will there be active development?  Or at least support to ensure issues are solved promptly?  to ensure there are enough nodes to allow for everything to sync up?  Will new features be added?  Which ones? Custom?  Zerocoin?  What??

This is the MOST important part. With lack of an active and dedicated developer, this coin will not go anywhere.
If transcoder cannot do this anymore, we may need to create a bounty/donation thread to hire a new developer.

On the marketing side, no existing, successful online casino is going to just start accepting CasinoCoin without incentive - and any single person here that can come up with that incentive won't make enough profit to cover the costs, even if the casino's acceptance of the coin does drive up the price.  What needs to happen is that we, as a community, need to build up an eco-system around Casinocoin.  Dogecoin has a handful of betting type sites developed around it - and its purpose is not even for gambling. Sexcoin has sex toy shops that accept sexcoin.  The community just need to build up CasinoCoin only casinos.

I agree. But I also think this won't happen until we see some active development support for this coin.

First things first, there needs to be a foundation/ steering committee that is democratic in nature - and it needs to be extremely well organized and professional.  Its purpose needs to be clearly defined.  Transcoder did start this thing, but he needs to give up some control to allow it to flourish, unless he's willing to give it 200% 24/7 and really show us that he's here for this coin.  If not, the community needs to find devs to take it over.  A relaunch would be pointless.  Make better code, release it, everyone updates, move on.

If I was a coder, I would be all over this.  Cry

In the end, there needs to be one website, one forum, one official set of documentation and link for the most up to date release, and one vision - and a whole bunch of communication.  The name and concept are great, but we can't live on those alone.  We need to do this one like every other successful coin.

Spot on. In the past week, we are seeing more productive/positive communication in this thread than ever before IMO. So that's a good sign.

I think it may be worth to try to get a major online casino to actually sponsor the coin. Maybe along the lines of "CasinoCoins brought to you by __________". The amount may be little for them but a lot to get things rolling. If one joins, I am willing to bet another will and then people can transfer coins from one site to another with little to no risk for the casinos. Instead of having to cash out move to your bank account and then redeposit in the new site you just go to a different site and you just transfer. It could be good for them to try to bring in gamblers from other sites but also could allow current gamblers to leave with ease, kinda like a double-edged sword.

That already established online casino can have maybe a separate section for the coin and provide the funds to get the CSC to USD conversion setup.

Maybe it was mentioned before but just a thought at 2:30 in the morning...I hope I didnt ramble on too much lol

I'm not sure why everyone keeps talking about new logos or branding.  I think the branding is excellent and there are not two logos.  There is one logo and an image of a CasinoCoin, just like Bitcoin has its logo and many variations of coin images that have been created:

https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1CHFX_enUS508US508&espv=210&es_sm=93&tbm=isch&q=bitcoin%20logo&revid=13535948&ei=7ZbLUtW9HYXYoATj2oLIAg&ved=0CBcQsyU&biw=1920&bih=954

So really, in the end, the issue isn't - let's change the branding or get some new graphics, it's - let's build the community and continue to build the eco-system.  Once that happens, it will be much easier to attract outsiders to join in.  I mean, if it's already as strong as it is just based on the name of the coin alone, imagine how strong it could get if all the people passionate about the name and concept organize a little better.

I think the Devs are doing a decent job and once CasinoCoin City goes live everything will be looking good. Just need to make it sleek and welcoming. The coin will very easily market itself and the added Marketing expertise of whoever volunteers their time and experience will boost it even further.

I've voted for Casinocoin!  Grin

BTW, have you seen other coin casino's such as Lottocoin Casino?
http://lottocoincasino.com/

It seems to be done quite well with lots of games.
(although it doesn't have the high quality / premium look)

Is the difficulty stuck?
The pools have been showing 2.9 since yesterday with est next difficulty 1.x in 0 blocks. But it hasn't actually changed.

Diff changes every 720 blocks. Next diff change should be at block 168479. We are currently at 168362.

I think this coin needs a relaunch, very good name, very good idea but hardly any development going on.
Needs a small handful of developers and marketers to push the coin. Look at what has been available since day 1 on other popular coins like doge, EAC and WDC and compare it to what we have currently for CSC.
