There is NO issue with Darksend, in fact the new masternode blinding system is quite impressive. The mission statement will remain the same with the addition that we want to challenge the monopoly that Bitcoin has on the space. I think it's quite unhealthy if it grows to be the only game in town.

Good luck with your venture. Excuse all the fudding, there are a lot of hidden agendas coming out from 'competitors', they sense weakness like a predator hunting it's prey and dive in with whatever they think will help destroy Darkcoin.
Hopefully this will all blow over soon, and we will be stronger for it..

Your dear leader just gave a big fuck-you to the entire community by deciding by himself on a course of action that many don't agree with. You don't think this is proof of centralization?

You are wrong, the smart people on the other communities know very well the name Darkcoin is a weakness for adoption. They may be following what happens and if the community is going to support Evan,etc, but they very well know that rebranding will make this project stronger.

You wont see anyone here from another community posting that rebranding is a bad idea, because it isn't. Think about it this way, there are four groups of people:

1. Anyone that is not already holding DRK will think changing the name is a good idea, they may wonder if we can make the transition, but they know is a good idea. Isn't this our target market? Shouldn't we be interested in reaching them?

2. Then there is the people within the community that feel changing the name is just part of the natural evolution of the project and opens new opportunities for adoption, I am in that group.

3. Then there is the people that don't really care one way or the other, they just want to define this and move on.

4. Finally there are the ones that find the name "Darkcoin" to be a form of protest and their approach to the issue is we should be openly defiant, etc.

To the people in the first three groups I say: Do you think there is a scenario where no one decides to exit after a name change? The people against it are very vocal, that does not mean it makes less sense.

To the people in the fourth group:

 Please consider, the technology is exactly the same, the re-branding can be very positive for adoption. Isn't it about preserving the civil liberties of the majority? If changing the name helps us reach that majority, isn't that what we should do? Aren't we being selfish if we just want to feel radical just for the sake of feeling radical, but if the true purpose is getting this great technology to the majority then shouldn't the name be changed.

We dont follow what a cult leader tells us to do. I do invest in my beliefs, and Evan is top dog of the crypto coding world, without question. I'm all up for discussion Adam White, but it seems clear you have a trolling agenda so I won't engage.

I respect people who like the name but I just think it's a total ball and chain round this coin's ankle at this point.

There are no "core markets" in this game.

The alt-coin league is barely 18 months sold. The idea that you can build up a "core market" in that amount of time that will sustain you is ridiculous. If you don't re-invent yourself periodically someone else will come and do it for you - and steal your place in the race.

Thats the real threat - not that Darkcoin looses its following through change, but that it looses its following through not changing.

The name change reflects whats actually going on - progress. If another coin called "DASH" appeared out of nowhere with dual-layer tech, InstantX, multiply redundant anonymity, legacy compliance, a solution to the blockchain boat on the roadmap and a dev that's productive and visionary as ED, Darkcoin would be trounced. Don't think the name would save it.

Thats why I think that this move is good and will not bring the sky crashing down like many are predicting. Dash may sound weird right now - even to me - but in a few weeks time it will sound damn cool again. The market will get lots of things it likes - something new, solutions to problems it knows are a headache for Bitcoin, an anonymous currency that's palatable to the wider world plus a bonus package - pedigree.

That's worth at least as much as loosing a few masternodes IMO.

Those who dumped because of a name change were going to dump sooner rather than later. Good riddance to short sighted individuals and good luck to them finding another project that can do even half the amount of work that this one has done over the past year.  I personally welcome a rebranding, that said, I do hope for a little more openness during the process.
