Wow, I didn't expect everyone to love it, as I know Bitcoin Rush is a strong personality, but this was a bit worse of a reaction than I expected. Everyone agrees, though, that Evan was great, so that's good.
I hope more of you will post your honest reactions. I'd like to get a good idea of where we went wrong. I thought it went according to plan, that BTC Rush was presented with all of his personality, etc... just as he normally is, only better, IMO. I'll say this, if you didn't know who he is, and what he does, it can be.... er... weird, LOL. But his friendly, enthusiasticly, quirky presentation style is his biggest asset IMO.
Gosh, I'm overwhelmed with the negativity. I thought it was a great show! A controversial choice in host, I can agree, but I think we hit the nail on the head with execution.
Well, I guess we'll have to see if this plays out well, and spreads the word??
You guys clearly put a lot of effort into this and that shows, it's just the bitcoin rush guy is not charismatic at all, he distracts from a simple message which Evan can clearly deliver on his own. Evan has a nice natural charisma and when he says something he comes across as sincere while the other bitcoin rush guy I can barely listen to what he has to say because he's so off-putting in his delivery. I know Evan can't necessarily go face to face for an interview but most tech personalities come off better. Anyways, I got through the video just cause I like Evan.
I don’t say too much so hopefully I don’t come across as the guy that only posts and moans. But…
I feel we as a community we are letting Evan and the other hard working devs down. The only saving grace is Bitcoin rush did ask some good questions and Evan (as always) comes across well, but it will soon be forgotten about as nobody wants to sit through a 20min video except drk users and perhaps if we are lucky nerds in general. The whole thing screamed amateur, which is obviously a shame because Evan and the dev team are doing some of the most interesting things on BCT. I understand we all want to "help", but when you are clearly out of your depth you are hurting rather than helping.
I didn't want to donate to the Bitcoin Rush episode (for many reasons that I wont go into here), but would be willing to donate to a professionally made animated video. I believe it would be more likely to be shared/viewed/go viral than what we currently have. I've made suggestions previously but as I'm not a member of the drk inner circle, I didn’t want to over step any boundaries. I feel I have a good eye for this kind of thing, if I was able to talk with people...i would be more than happy to. I have found lots of very talented people on behance (many have done animations for IBM and Samsung to Bitcoin and Vertcoin). I don’t know how much these people will cost, but if we have a product that we believe to be world class perhaps we should look to market that accordingly.
Is this something that would interest the community if we got enough donations?
That intro video to introduce Darkcoin has been discussed many times. I don't really think going viral is an option (the things that we love are extremely boring for most people
), but it would be super useful to help explaining things. The problem with this project is that everybody has an opinion and trying to do things by consensus is impossible.
If you know people who can do it, I would encourage you to organize it. Ask for help and for donations, make decisions and finish it. People will criticize your result, it doesn't matter how great it is. Don't worry about that, it is human nature. You will have done something useful for Darkcoin and you'll also learn a ton along the way.
If someone else wants to do another video, that will also be great. We don't need one video, we need hundreds!
