In regards to the recent discussion, do you guys really think this coin will be NSA proof? If so, I suspect you will be disappointed. Their resources are too vast at this point.
Determining if any privacy technology being developed will be NSA proof, not only now but in years to come, is highly speculative. Our goal should be to make it as difficult and costly as possible. I can say that I prefer the off-chain mixing privacy, Darkcoin style, than on-chain privacy based on cryptography as we understand it today. Reason being, Darksend, once it is perfected will offer you a level of privacy that is guaranteed into the future, the information is destroyed now and forever. With on-chain privacy you always run the risk that in the future with new and better computing capabilities and math discoveries the whole blockchain can be uncovered.
Darksend will continue to evolve and be refined so that, trying to uncover Darksend transactions is an extremely difficult and costly endeavor without any certainty of success. This should work as a strong deterrent against spying. Will this be enough to keep the government agencies away? I think it will definitely be enough to keep government agencies, competitors, marketing companies, your neighbor, etc, away from the general public private affairs, and that is the purpose of Darksend. Will it be enough to keep the agencies away if you are a targeted individual? Who knows? Maybe not, I dont think anyone can promise this.
Other anon projects often try to drag us into that anonymity vs NSA discussion, which is really all speculation. Reality is, Darksend is excellent to protect users privacy but Darkcoin is much more than that, we are setting a new standard, yes creating high quality privacy that produces a more fungible coin is one of Darkcoin's strong features.
But overall, Darkcoin goal is to create the best experience and added value features for its users. By being more fungible, having ultra-fast transaction speeds that allow for face to face real world applications, better security through 2FA, additional applications that will be built in the future over the masternode network.
See, Darkcoin is thinking about creating value for the end user not about only a specific feature, that in my opinion, is the right vision, and why Darkcoin has a good chance of being succesful. We are setting a new starndard, crypto is becoming a zero sum game, you have to have it all if you want to be interesting, one specific feature will not cut it anymore. So you are anon? Talk to me about your confirmation speeds?
