Alex, people will not invest in other than €. They even do not recognice that gold and silver could save their existance in environmet like we have in Greece
And sorry, after all the bad experiance i made in cryptoland over the last 14 months i rather would invest in cigaretts and alcohol than in crypto. In cryptoland you cant trust anybody.
After mtgox we had mintgox and now again with bitstamp.
I lost the last bit confidence in crypto.
In the end i lost 5k€ and the last thing i have is one masternode. In terms of fiatvalue i am sure this will also go to zero.

You don't have to trust anyone, that's the whole point of a cryptocurrency, but people trust exchanges with their money, every single one of which is obviously on the take, and thus get burned due to exchange dishonesty and/or exchange incompetence

You're right though, neither the Greeks nor anyone else en masse are going to spend their dwindling supply of comedy paper on BTC or DRK when cigarettes and other tangible commodities are a more profitable and certainly less volatile investment.  Cheesy

Cryptocurrencies are a luxury item, useful in a prospering economy, not so much when you're struggling to feed your kids and stop the bank repossessing your home.

Agree with you. How can you persuade someone to use bitcoin when such a massive fluctuation, when price is going down, when people keep loosing money either by exchange or hack or even trying to buy mining equipment (butterfly labs), the only way not to loose money in crypto is either stay away from crypto or get some bitcoins and look for incoming pumps and dumps.  Computer literate people get butraped, and an average person does not even have antivirus and firewall installed in their phone, f*** that - almost everyone uses facebook app on their phone!  So how can anyone persuade an average person to start using crypto? no matter how bad fiat will do, it will still have more trust than crypto currency...

I agree. Big monetary crisis are useful because people start to realize that paper money is funny money, but nobody in an emergency situation is going to run to an emergent technology that very few people really understand. You can worry about wealth protection when you have wealth, when you are fighting for survival it doesn't make any sense.

And what we can make to make them buy drk? You think it's the moment to make DRK known in greece (a tv spot in national chanel?)?
We need a greek traduction now!

In terms of politics, there is an issue that a change in government could lead to gr-exit (greece exiting the euro). In that scenario, withdrawing euro (in cash) or moving the money abroad in foreign banks is seen as a better alternative compared to a new national currency which is expected to be devalued after its introduction.

If it happens, and say the new national currency starts from 1:1 and it goes to something like 4:1 or 3:1 vs the euro, then someone who withdrew their money in euros prior to grexit will be able to buy more national currency after that. The euro is already pretty sufficient for what some Greeks want to do (so in that sense there is no real need for cryptocurrencies). This is unlike the Cyprus issue with monetary controls after the bank bail-in.

Cryptos are great for situations where

a) The national currency is weak (Greece has the euro), precious metal buying is restricted and a stable and internationally accepted cryptocurrency can act as value of storage / wealth preservation tool.

b) A country has imposed severe international trading restrictions for imports, bank wires etc - usually because it has run dry in foreign reserves. Crypto is very good for that. Greece doesn't really need foreign reserves as it has the euro which is widely accepted. Cyprus was running low on their euros due to the ECB not supporting the Cypriot banks.

In any case, both parties that are running first and second for the Greek elections don't have gr-exit in their agendas.

is it me or did we lose a whole lot of MN's ? Current MN number 1663 .. last number i remember 1722 or more? Someone updating them or
are they in use on Testnet ?

Actually we never had more than 1680.

elbereth's site doesn't forget inactive Masternodes so they are still counted on drk.mn.

I've already informed him about this and he'll fix it as soon as he finds some time to do it.

You can temporarily use this http://178.254.18.153/~pub/masternode_count.png

Thanks for the site!

DRK.mn
is fixed and on the correct count now !
