Looks (to my untrained eye, I may well be reading the code wrong) like v11 branch Darksend will be denominating down to 0.1DRK. Smiley

What would be the reason of running your masternode on a VPN rather than, say, a web server or even just a Linux box set up like a web server at home? Is it because of security? Up time? Other reasons?

I'm close to being able to fund a MN and was wondering my options other than VPNs.

you need a static ip

Unfortunately that's incorrect.  You just need to know the IP when you start the MN up and if it's at home, have the proper port forwarding set up.  I have found that in order to start it up, you cannot do it from the same IP address, you will need to connect your cold wallet machine to a VPN or TOR or do it from a different physical location so your network sees a "different" IP and passes traffic properly.  Once started, you can disconnect TOR or the VPN from the cold wallet machine.

Once IPs are hidden for MN security, (which should have been #1 priority in my eyes), I think we'll see a bunch of folks hosting them at home.
+1
We need hidde IP, with public ip dark is vulnerable and public

Hosting from home would be more expensive for US community. Cheapest static IP from ISP is $13-15 for 1 and like$35-40 for 10.

Lets dont forget the electric bill to run it!

Masternode doesnt require hashing power..so a low scale, low energy server will work just fine....or a VM on a PC.

New Darkcoin Promo Video

Darkcoin, Not Bitcoin!

-onetime

I didn't get around to saying it before, but you have a beautiful liquid voice that's perfect for radio and vocals!  Nice!

I hate to complain, but the bitcoin floating is totally pixelated, can't you get something cleaner?  And I'd skip our old coin toward the end, that's just confusing, and no longer our icon.

Otherwise it's a home run!

You don't need a static IP.

Has this site already been discussed (it looks to me as if it would be smarter for them to transact in DRK than BTC):

http://slur.io/

"Slur is an open source, decentralized and anonymous marketplace for the selling of secret information in exchange for bitcoin. Slur is written in C and operates over the Tor network with bitcoin transactions through libbitcoin. Both buyers and sellers are fully anonymous and there are no restrictions on the data that is auctioned. There is no charge to buy or sell on the Slur marketplace except in the case of a dispute, where a token sum is paid to volunteers. - See more at: http://slur.io/#what"

Get your

Daily Dose Of DRK

with new Darkcoiner Bill Cassidy!

This may grow into a full fledged radio show, under a potential Get Into The Dark! media franchise (website, radio, video).

More info on that to come, for now, enjoy!

BTW, that wasn't the reason for my excitement yesterday, more on that to follow as well...

I'm super pro-drk , but you just quoted the tweet of one of the Zerocash (future) creators.

Not one of the creators, the creator.

And DRK is a live project, zerocash is an academic paper.

Irrespective, the direction of travel and the focus of attention will shift to eCash. It is the prime directive. Picking a horse that is in the race is better than picking a horse grazing in the shitcoin pasture fields - you know, like Litecoin.
