Cant you trace the payment trail?

What good does it do once the funds are darksended? Sure, you get the initial throw away addy, but after done 8 rounds, it's as good as gone.

I read in another thread that there was a malicious wallet released with a keylogger but I'm no sure what that wallet was. Someone said the bitbay walls had a backdoor and a keylogger the one with smart contracts so I deleted it and scanned n found nothing but junk and most wallets n mining progs get flagged anyways because of botnets even If they are fine. I would definitely move what u have left to a new safe wallet on a different computer with a fresh install or a bootable USB stick. I'm gonna check all my wallets when I get home from work, it'd kill me if someone stole my dark as I mined all my dark and it's like my baby lol

Yes, it happened with the DarkSig wallet on November 8th.   How do I know?  Don't ask...... Smiley  The fucker got nothing and I have backups of everything he tried to delete..... still felt violated though.

A possible workaround for windows users is a dual boot solution:
-install a  luks encrypted linux distro.
-move your 1000DRKs on the linux wallet.
-use windows daily
-never use linux, only for system security updates and MN updates.

*The 2 OSs will not be communicating

A newbie on Linux is worth than a newbie on windows.

The good thing on this is that the Linux partition will be power off most of the time.

The latest shift for the Darkcoin multipool paid out over 66DRK.

Still need more hash for Sha256, Scrypt & X11 algo. If you got some, bring it over!

Cheers!

If something could be done about this should be great : that only need to start it once in local then can keep the wallet in cold for ever.

That's an interesting thought. The reason why the wallet needs to be unlocked is to be able to access the address private key in order to sign the message which is then sent out to the network. If the vin, address and masternode private key remain the same, there should be no reason to have to unlock the wallet again in the future to start the same masternode at a later time. One could think about reusing the same communication. Looking at the current implementation, there is also a check for the protocol version, but this could be excluded from the signed message I guess.

Thanks for suggestions everybody.  I'm just going to nuke the PC, Linux it up and change everything that can be changed.

There you go...first stupid public loss admitted by a darkcoin team member?  Please learn from my mistakes.  When I've had time to analyse fully what has happened I will post here to advise others.

What about the blockchain, where did the funds go ?!

 Damn Sad

Hard to explain, feeling a bit paranoid having my first ever security breach a few days after revealing my real identity to the world. I've made things safe and now I need some time to think things through and calmly lay out what happened.  I'm confused myself now.

Will report back publicly in a bit.

My condolences man, that really sucks Sad. Hopefully you can figure out what happened - this is every crypto person's worst fear

I use different passwords for each wallet.
Before copying wallet on PC I use AWDcleaner + Malwarebytes before I do anything what is combined with the drk wallets. So far so good.
Eduffield we need 2FA quite quick to avoid this kind of problems.

Thanks for the kind words Tante.  Really appreciated.   A minority of my crypto has been stolen but I had to work hard to buy it so I'm pretty angry.  I don't feel violated.  As I said, I hope who stole it needs it more than me.

I don't want to speculate too much but the two wallets  that were compromised had the same passphrase.  Thats the only commonality.  The other (n) wallets on my PC have been running and were uncompromised.  The only thing that is troubling me is that one was BTC core on my PC and the other Darkcoin QT on my mac.  There is an active fileshare between the two.

Was the PC on Windows?

I'm so sorry.  I had my account stolen on Second Life once, everything was gone, sold, etc...  I felt gutted for weeks!  Like I was physically robbed, like I was invaded.  Sounds stupid, but I think it's actually akin, but not as bad as, when your house is robbed.  I can sympathize with how you feel. ::hugs::

First, I'm really sorry to hear that happened
Second, you sound like you know how to protect your computer better than I can
Third, I look forward to learning what happened so I can learn from your loop hole, I don't think it was so much a mistake as a loophole Smiley
Forth, I'm glad it wasn't all your wallets, and hope the coins in the two you lost make for only a small percentage of the whole!
