If SDC devs are so great why I have not heard of the coin and why they cost $ 0.066? I don't fully understand why we have to merge. Sound like trouble.

I agree, SDC community is sucks.

DRK's dev was after the SDC tech, not the community.

GUYS PLEASE

I know it's all about the FOX news and all the great things happening,
but I'd like to remind you that we have to find a solution to reward our current awesome devs and to hire new ones.

As an owner of some Masternodes, I'd be willing to have 10% of my MN reward s go towards paying them.

A company pays its employees, we should pay our devs to ensure their commitment and the project's perennity.

I know that some will say "if they believe in their coin, then investing in it and developing it should be enough".

While they might be right, I think, especially in order to avoid the kind of situation we saw with a potentient coin merging, it would be a good solution to ask MN owners for a little reward effort.

Please let's discuss this.

Regards,

While I am not against this, funding development should be everybody's business not masternodes in particular. The foundation site should be ready very soon lets see how the voluntary fundraising goes.

Because we are the "rich" ones in Darkcoin, as such it hurts us less than "normal" dark coin investors, and would prove both our commitment to the coin and our support to the devs.

Why not 5% of MN rewards + foundation site then?

As the core idea of the merger was to acquire more developers. Let's start drumming up ideas how we can onboard new talent to the darkcoin team. There needs to be some sort of incentive or clever marketing to weed out some of the good devs

I'll happily donate half my MN earnings to a developer fund if devs are needed, and I think they are. As long as it goes to professional devs hired/contracted who have real names and real experience, not some faceless cryptognat clown.

Ideally, I think, funding for developers (if necessary - though I don't think it necessarily should be) would come from foundation funds.  There are problems with relying on voluntary community donations and major issues with siphoning funds from MNs or miners in a non-voluntary manner.

The idea with Shadowcoin was not primarily to gain more devs - that we could do anyway.  It was consolidation, on several fronts.  It's easy to get impatient with waiting for that to happen organically, and I think maybe that's what was driving this idea.  It was exploratory at this point, for what it's worth.  The fact that it leaked says quite a bit.  Better that it happened now I suppose.

Nice to see your around bro.

About funding, I just read this: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/micropayments-tool-dogetipbot-wins-445k-from-investors-849434 - half a million $ for a crappy doge app. Have any efforts been made by The Foundation in approaching VC types? Ending up beholden to the paymaster is a big concern, but there are people out there seemingly rabid to throw cash at anything with the vaguest hope of a return... I am surprised that DRK hasn't had big money come knocking on the door yet...

Sweet baby jesus...

No, although I imagine it won't be difficult should we decide to do so given the contacts of a couple of our board members.

WTF is going on, I haven't had a chance to catch up on news yet today... Don't tell me, I'll take an extended lunch break soon in a quiet room...  Wink

Is it time to max out the credit cards?

Evan is mud wrestling a DEA agent live on Fox at 9pm Texas time.

I would pay to see this.

Anyway, all ideas on how to recruit developers are welcomed!

We should just start a thread on Alternate cryptocurrencies that Darkcoin wants more devs. Preferably Evan does it so it has credibility. And we should tweet it as well.

I don't believe funding solely with donations will work, few generous holders will donate, and the rest will sit on their wallets freerolling. Currently 25% of the block reward goes to masternodes, 75% goes to miners. So why not 1% to dev fund / foundation? That would mean 28 DRK / day minimum. Not much, but the price will only go up from here, right? Smiley  Or maybe even 5%?

And the idea that masternodes could vote how the funds are used is awesome. How to implement that though when there is so much else to implement as well is another matter. Smiley

Actually something like a percentage of masternode payments going to a developer fund.  Start at a certain percentage and have it track the emission rate of the coin.  Ten percent is a good place to start decreasing over time.

I can't believe I'm agreeing with shojayxt. 10% of the block reward to dev fund for the next 6 months, decrease to 8% for the next 6, and so on, until it's 1%. At that point the value of that 1% could potentially be very high. 10% of the reward is at the minimum 280 DRK /day btw.

Taking more from the miners? Is this bad idea day or some shit?

I was actually talking about 10% of masternode payments.  I guess I wasn't clear.  Nothing more should be taken away from the miners.
