You can't blame market manipulation or whales when your total volume for the day is a meager $50,000. That's just no one using or trading Darkcoin. Simple as.

I mean fuck, Dogecoin had over 13x the volume of Darkcoin today. It's like some bad joke

I think you'll find that DOGE is subject to some severe manipulation. Was there any development news or major real-world adoption to justify the recent price explosion?

I've just had a Eureka moment.
Mintpal [...]
Is this what's behind the BTC dump ?

My worst fear is that Mintpal is behind the BTC dump, but in a way that they are dumping all the user's coins for fiat (in short: there is no V2, there is no migration issue, there is no mintpal anymore).
I don't suggest to start panicking, I say this is my worts fear (I absolutely do not want this to happen, even though I fully emptied my mintpal balances a weak ago).

Lol, wouldn't that be something...

Precisely, and that is due to immaturity.  We can't function as a true currency when it's accepted at so few locations.  We can function, however, as a money transfer service, but those that need such services can't exchange so easily.  And when the volume is up, it's due to speculation, not need.

All this will come in time.

And then the exchange services take a chunk out of everything making us less useful than we should be (fees for changing back to fiat)

Hummm, I've been getting a TCP timeout for Mintpal for quite some time now.  Have they ever gone live? or is this the latest step for them?  LOL.

Ah !!!!

I've just had a Eureka moment.

Mintpal is launching with FIAT markets. That's going to open the floodgates for Fiat directly into the Altcoin markets and will clearly mitigate the stranglehold that Bitcoin has (in terms of being needed as an intermediary to buy alts).

Is this what's behind the BTC dump ?

LOL fianlly I can use euro directly to do it, hope the transfers will be quick too...

To me, it just means I have to give my most personal information to another entity.  Coinbase is in California where I live, and they handle the finances of big companies.  It makes me feel safer.  I don't know if that's so, but it took a lot to expose my finances to them.  Who is Mintpal?  How could I trust them?  And who is Bitfinex?

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to go somewhere better, but me scared!

Seriously FUCK YOU BITCOIN IM GONNA PUNCH YOU IN THE FUCKING DICK.

I just wonder how low it will go...  Wink

I seen some predictions that we are headed for below 100$ for awhile and it seems top be steadily falling and not the rapid fall with instant rebound like times before. I know if it falls to 80$ im loading up on cheap BTC

What is the total net hashrate at the moment?

Network Hashrate: 91.98 GH/s

Source please?

Or is there a way to calculate this myself?

You can get this in the wallet, no?  getmininginfo?

Absolutely. Thanks for pointing this out:

Fuck bitcoin, the prediction I made 2 weeks ago comes true:

DRK still looks cheap below $300
BTC falling on DRK open source news.
The game is afoot

I can imagine a scenario where BTC falls to 200$ while DRK rises to 200$, and they both meet on the way, respectfully greeting each other, but never seeing each other ever again.

Reminds me of this hilarious simpson evolution clip: (click pic for video)

Well, my wallet is mining on my desktop again to support the network, LOL.  How many cores does it default to?  'cause I just started it with setgenerate true  Tongue

All of them.
Please be careful and monitor the temperature of your PC. I don't recommend mining with your ordinary work pc. You could damage it if it doesn't have proper ventilation.
(better run only 1 core at all times)
I just tested on my work pc (4 core AMD (Vishera) with 3.6 GH) it shows a hashrate of about 40 kh/s and needs about 95 Watt (just the CPU, but obviously the whole PC needs more) if I am not mistaken.

So, we have to find out the total net hashrate of the darkcoin network, to calculate how much help those 40 kh/s would be. Or if I only used 1 core, the 10 kh/s.

What is the total net hashrate at the moment?
coinwarz says 84 GH/s... so I would contribute about a 2 millionth part of the nethashrate (or 0.00005 %) when I run my PC with all cores actively mining.
That's not recommendable, but good to know.

What would really be good is if the wallet could suspend or lower the number of cores it is using when the computer is being used, then up it when idle.
