Hello Everyone,

If you're running a larger than normal wallet and set "Amount to anonymize" to a really high amount, the client will prioritize money that has not been denominated, in effect denominating the entire amount ONCE (this could look  like the round > 1 bug, but it's not). No input will reach 2 rounds before that amount is met. When the client detects you've reached the threshold you set, it will then start denominating round 2, then 3, etc.

From the looks of the thread all issues users are experiencing are not bugs at this point, just a misunderstanding of how Darksend works. All major bugs have been resolved and I'm going to move on to RC5 and other unique features of Darkcoin that we've had in the works for awhile (I'm going to wait till all of the weak hands have left the building then I have some really cool stuff to announce).

Reading Evan post and looking at this behavior it seems "buggy" to me for large wallets with a large amount to DRK set to be anonymized.  Why would 1 confirmation on all inputs be sufficient to start the next round it one case BUT an unknown amount of confirmations required to start the next round in another?

No not buggy.

ex1) 1000.
---> amount 1000 go round 2 and 3.

ex2) 50000
---> check confirmation, it's what Evan said. rounds = 1. different confirmation.

OK got it.  But why don't I see the rest of the 50,000 in coin control marked with -2?

I think the weak hands have all cashed out now, bottom was 0.005 BTC and trend reversal has kicked in. Not 100% sure, but fairly confident. This is where I start accumulating more DRK, just freed up 10 BTC. Price is likely to receive a further boost after Evan announces plan RC5 and beyond. I expect this will happen tomorrow, since he has probably taken the weekend off after all the hard work.

I damn well hope he doesn't announce anything until Tuesday, EVAN IF YOU READ THIS...GO TAKE ANOTHER FEW DAYS OFF

I need to get another 2x MN under my belt! Just need my btc to clear over the weekend!

Should we create a "Take a few more days off Evan" fund to pay for Evan to have an extended holiday?

I will donate...
I do think Evan made a mistake after RC4 release. Where I think it's fine to focus on coding and leave communication as a second priority, especially before final release, I think he should have spent a few days on the forums for many hours a day after RC4 release. This is new technology, with many people having questions on how everything works and many people having minor issues. Evan should have been posting like a mad man to inform and help people, and to defend his system. This would have easily stopped the price decline, and possibly would have increased it (although we arguably want a price decline to lose the weak hands). Of course we have Eltito for this, but I have the feeling that he is not very motivated to put in to much work for this project (for whatever reason... possibly doesn't own enough DRK). It just seems wrong that everyone has questions on how things are supposed to work, with no one from the team being here to explain it to us (with team being Evan and nobody else, since only he knows exactly how things should work).

haha thats an awesome idea, id donate for sure - although if I were in his shoes, id love for it to be post open source - that way he can sit back and watch his baby grow.

Can I suggest that drk open sources and start an anon Btc coin mixing service immediately? This should get new Btc into the ecosphere.

I believe that open source has always been the plan, post code review.

What people do with it afterwards is anybody's guess.

I think he knows open source has always been the plan of action. The timing of open source is still to be decided, but we are not far off that stage.

few quick questions before i update.

1. did i see that rc4 would have 1000 preloaded addresses as opposed to 100 which is the normal with older versions and bitcoin?
2. if so people need to do a wallet back up after install.
3. also, is the new masternode voting system in rc4 just waiting to flip the spork switch or is that in rc 5?
4. will i have to update my mn again (in a 2-3 weeks?) when rc5 comes out.
thanks

1) Yes, 1000 is default.
2) after install, and if Darksend is enabled then after anonymization is comleted.

I'm going to skip enforcement of the payments for RC4. Perfecting Darksend+ has been a lot larger than originally intended and we're having 90%+ payments currently, so I don't want to make people wait a few more weeks for such a small benefit.

Although, once I start testing if there's no problems with the code I'll go ahead and turn it on. It just depends if I find anything.

4) I think so

What I am saying is that, since there is a .98% of any single transaction (as you have said) then given any 100 single transactions, there is a 63% that at least one of them will be discovered. This is regardless of whether the transactions are related or not, just any 100 single transactions at 1% should give a 63% chance of at least one of them being comprimised.

Those who require stronger anon, can and should use higher number of rounds than 2. This will force an adversary to spend too many resources for a miniscule success % that it won't be worth it for them to even start trying. And, if you (or your trusted friend) is running a masternode, in a future release you will be able to set that node to be a preferred one so it would always be one of the nodes through which the funds are anonymized. So I would say it would be a good idea to get a masternode if you don't have one by now. Wink

Plus this:
Only applies if the coin source is constant. That is not the case in reality. Coins come from different addresses, which have themselves been mixed.

Cloak's anon is instant,

Timing analysis.

tell me how a scamcoin can achieve trustless anon in a fraction of the time that any other anontech coin has been on the market.

Because they haven't thought everything through? Because it has leaks? Because it can be spied? Because it can be dos'ed? Dunno, could be all of those and then some.

The price is rising again, we're back to 0.0055

I actually think it is a good thing that the price has dropped like this because it shakes out all the weak hands that had unrealistic expectations and those that can't tell the difference between DRK, which is trying to reinvent the wheel, and other anon coins which are rife with problems or are merely adding trusted mixers to the blockchain. Once those "investors" are gone the coin will be in better shape. Plus the accumulation of stronger hands will concide with the tech being in better shape (compared to previous rallies) owing to all the work the devs and testers have put in.

If you can get BTC ready fast enough this is the time to accumulate.
I agree. Now the last weak hand we need to get rid of is camosol. He is a horrible, negative person. I hold him responsible for at least a few million in market cap decrease, by hijacking this thread with his repetitive negativity and aggression, just because some community members would not acknowledge his issue. This cry baby should really get over himself, the possible issue is tracked in JIRA and will be looked at. Camosol, please dump your coins and never come back. We don't want you. Your attitude belongs at cloakcoin. I will be more than happy to lose another million in market cap due to you dumping your coins. It's for the best of Darkcoin on the long run.

Well said.
He caused enough damage with his rumblings, he is useless.

Totally killed RC4 for a lot of us, could have just logged a job with the dev's and allowed the rest of us to enjoy this nice moment.  There was always going to be bugs, but he was a disrespectful black hole of negativity.

I wouldnt usually say this but I was disappointed in the way Camo acted as supposedly a Dark supporter. Screaming "Fuck this, fuck that etc"

With his holdings & how well he is known in the DRK community he could have emailed Evan to which I am sure he would have got his personal attention to work with and identify and resolve his issues. He could have approached it like "Hey guys, think I found a bug because my wallet is so big, working with the Dev team will update you with our progress!"

Instead he took the immature path and for that I am sad.

getting ready to update my masternode wallet #2 to .31 and anonymize 1050+ drk on my win 8.1 machine. i was waiting for all bugs to be dealt with and it looks like everything is good for 99% of people.
ghostplayer tried to help me do the quick 5-10 minute mn update but it did not work and now we have to do it the hard way which according to gp means "new IP, new 1k address, new masternode genkey."

anything i should know before i update to .31?

I'm running Windoz, it's been all good since .29 brother.

I see a problem.

I did denominate coins, made a backup after it just in case.

Now i bought some more cheap coins transfered in in to the wallet where also the denominated coins have been.

When i put in the old backup all the coins that has been denominated are gone, only the transfered coins are there.

Im lucky i made a backup, if not this coins would be gone? But this is not noob proofed and people have to know if they use darksend they have to make a new backup afterwards?
