When is rc4 due for release? I've just bought back in again while the price is super low Wink

raffern there isn't a guaranteed "release date" for RC4. It is being worked on by many people and updates can be read about over at darkcointalk.org. I'd recommend you read through the last 3 pages of this thread to get a understanding of the dynamics and interactions around RC4.

Thank you for the reply. Il head over there now and take a look. Thanks again! Smiley

Whichever way you look at it these are exciting times and it appears that DRK is a good distance ahead of its competitors.  Some people have mentioned that there will be room for more than one anon altcoin but I'm not so sure.  If DRK does it first and does it right, I think it won't be long before those who value their privacy will be buying items online and in real life using DRK.

Pretty much my thoughts as well. The alt coin fanatics are just so used to running after the next big thing and the next big thing, so when finally something is about to actually mature they don't recognize it.

When the source is opened and 10 DRK transaction limit lifted, we need to hit the ground running. DRK is ahead of the competition, and if something we need to compound on that advantage. Have a list of merchants who are likely to adopt privacy oriented currency, and make sure they know that DRK is finally here and ready to be used.

It's a bit sad that there aren't enough people to keep the price above 0.01 right now, which is causing some fear here. Although you shouldn't really worry, the volume is low.
I'm running low on ammo. Only 5 BTC left.
Bitcoin is swooning, and causing all the alts to weaken in price. DRK has dropped more than the others, but a lot of that is due to fast money traders that want to cash out and move on the the next shiny speculative p&d coin. I will not mention coins by name but you know who they are.

Don't mistake short term trading action for long term sentiment. This is the most investible cryptocurrency in the market, bar none.

Decentralize Everything

Great first post!  and very insightful.  In hind sight I'm not certain what could have been done in the development to have changed the expectations on the  beta's.  I really think that it wasn't the devs or Evan fault but the over zealous supporters pumping the hell out of things and creating unrealistic expectations in the beginning of beta releases.  That complicated things and has caused this hyper sensitivity that we now have to live with.  Lets hope for a smooth RC4 release.  Smiley

I think my views are somewhat tainted by the fact that I have worked in the markets before, have witnessed release failures and also the subsequent zero tolerance response.  I'm an IT man myself but in Programme Management and not related to dev so I have very little experience in these areas.

I find it hard to appreciate that you can beta release a crypto currency.  If its there, people will use and abuse it regardless of the risks. For what its worth it seems that every altcoin has gone with the "lets go live and make it work later!" approach which I suppose is just the way things are.  These aren't coins being developed by large teams, these are people with day jobs working on something new that hasn't been done before.

Anyway, apologies for the ramble.  You have no idea how frustrating the last few months of reading this thread have been.  The XC war was particularly hard to stomach.

Traders: looks like the break of the ascending triangle is a fake out. Look how low volume is on the move. Watching for a higher volume reversal next day or two...

I would predict second week of August, given how hard Evan is working. There seems to be a new release pretty much every day.

People are starting to guess the RC4 release date. I really hope eltito can help manage these expectations so that there are no sudden surprises if it comes out later than everyone is thinking it will. Granted most holders will keep holding if RC4 is late august, but speculators will get out looking elsewhere for gains, making holder's lives a bit more depressing for a few more weeks.

p.s. will we again see the heady days of may again, whence darkcoin just kept rising?!? maybe maybe not. but damn that sure would be fun

There are so many options on the market, most people are too tech illiterate to realize that 95% of them are total vaporware.

"Dark developers focus on development, not marketing... They work hard on Testnet not make youtube videos..."

That's what I'm for.  I accept crypto.  Contact me if anyone is interested in organizing a DarkCoin fund for me to make a short marketing video.

My very first post  Cheesy

I have very much enjoyed reading the last few thousand pages of insight, nonsense and FUD.

From my point of view, it is clear how much Darkcoin has to offer but the big question mark for me is whether the devs can deliver RC4 without a hitch.

Evan and team are clearly working their asses off and doing all they can to ensure a clean release but history does not fill the casual observer with confidence over what may or may not happen when RC4 comes along.  I have huge admiration for the devs but I don't think there will be a second chance should RC4 go badly.

For what its worth, I'm just enjoying the cheap DRK on offer today.  I am just at my limit of what I can in all good conscience afford to lose if things do go wrong.

I have bundles of faith in the concept but so far, not much faith in the execution.  I wish all involved the very best of luck.

After the completion of Rc4, the Minimum price will be 0.05 and Rising to Moon

I appreciate your unbridled optimism! As much as I would like to think we hit .05 soon I kind of doubt it but surely drk will be much higher than it is now.

Seems like market sentiment is skewed against a successful RC4, given the hiccups with two previous releases. If Evan and team can deliver successfully this time, and all the auto-denom feature is working flawlessly and 10DRK limit lifted, I think we will experience a sustained rally from these levels.

Transaction volumes on the darkcoin network and exchange volume in DRK/BTC pairing may increase dramatically and rapidly if we get lots of bitcoiners exchanging in and out of dark to clean up their dirty bitcoin (please, let us not judge how darkcoin is used but appreciate its utility). This is very price supportive. Add to that the speculators who will jump back in as prices rise and here we have a very nice path higher.

For the time being, there is still some uncertainty about current progress and timing of RC4 release that probably does not help improve sentiment atm. Hopfully eltito can manage expectations properly and give us some kind of update soon.

I think this is a reasonable observation.  Obviously there are big investors like myself that hold investments for much longer periods also I'm looking to set up several Masternodes...though whats holding me back at the moment is I wish to have my own servers rather then rent server space so it comes down to time management.  I think over the next 12 months the average price will be around the 0.02 to 0.05 mark, of course depending on the code progress.  I predict that there will be those that will have been spooked will clear out under 0.02 and be happy with breaking even...and thats fine too.  Its going to be the BTC/LTC crowd that is waiting on the sidelines that is going to drive this for the next several months as you mentioned.  I, like many others are very confident on what lies ahead...so these price dips, though irritating are part of the program.
