Why are you making mistakes when typing 'sold' and 'hold'? Intentionally or? If so, for what purpose?

Lets try a simple thought experiment.
What if you use Bitcoin to buy stuff, like porn, or maybe some cream from some online pharmacy for some embarrassing affliction.
Right now the vendor knows who you are, but hey, its all online so who cares.
Now, imagine that regulations come on tap, you know - like the New York ones, that make it a requirement for said vendors to keep records for 5 or perhaps 10 years.
Now, lets multiply that across many different vendors, each keeping records of embarrassing and private expenditure for a number of years, and even decades.
Now suppose that someone working at one of these vendors decides they don't like the world anymore. Maybe they might just go ahead and wiki-leak millions of transactions, with names and addresses, online.
Now the world not only knows you like kinky, tie-me-up, piss-on-me porn, in addition to that hemorrhoid cream for that difficult to shift recurring problem you got going on there; but they also know everything you have every spent Bitcoin on over the last 20 years or more.
Now when you think of the price of Bitcoin, the price of Darkcoin by comparison looks absolutely priceless.

Did you really sodl your eCash, when you should have hodl your eCash?

Interesting some of these thought experiments, aren't they.
A nice read, although your formatting is killing my eyes.

This is the worst investment i ever made its done nothing but slowly bleed to death ever since I bought it. The worst part is that I listened to all the people saying hold, now I feel like a fucking fool and hate myself for not selling sooner. God dammit! Angry IM SUCH A FUCKING IDIOT!

If you don't realize what's around the corner then please sell right now and realize your loss.

Lol  - panic makes me laugh at all the weak.

I've lost almost HALF my money, fuck you you prick! You laugh at that? What a fucking asshole.

Your first major newbie mistake was investing your ENTIRE $3,000 all at once... you never looked for a good entry price, never did any dollar cost-averaging or did anything sensible here... I doubt you've ever traded a stock or any financial security in your life, and probably did about as much research as a 3rd grade book report.

My friend and I have invested about $8,500.00 USD into DRK since before the last hard fork failure (past 2 months). We started buying DRK above 0.02 BTC. But you know what? Our losses so far are completely manageable and we're not worried one bit. We only purchased small amounts at 0.02+ BTC, and as the price has fallen we've progressively purchased larger and larger amounts, continually averaging down our average unit cost per DRK. And I'm buying every last DRK I can get my hands on near the 0.01 BTC level... this price point feels like the bargain of the century on the eve of RC4.

Your second newbie mistake was investing $3,000 into ANY crypto-currency, especially since this is a lot of money to you and you say you're "poor". If you're poor you never should've bought ANY coin, much less $3K worth. You never invest what you cannot afford to lose in crypto-currencies... that's just completely asinine, especially if you have no clue what you're doing and zero trading/financial experience...

Your third newbie mistake is ignoring the fundamentals and the huge, market-shaking changes coming to DRK with RC4. Have you paid attention to Evan's posts about Darksend+? The code audit by Kristov Atlas? The huge wallet/UI overhaul that I am working on? Or any of the other dev updates? Obviously not.

Your fourth newbie mistake is going to be panic selling your DRK now around 0.01 BTC just before it whip-saws up to 0.05+ BTC after RC4... that 260-ish DRK you bought for $3k would probably rake in over $7,800.00 for you if you just held it. But you're going to be regretting panic selling every day of your life as DRK rises to $30.00, $50.00, $90.00, $125.00, $200.00, and on and on and on... eventually it'll be trading at 1.5x to 3.0x the value of 1 BTC...

Your fifth (but probably not your last) newbie mistake is NOT BUYING MORE DRK NOW and averaging down your avg. unit cost per coin!!!  Smiley

Sorry your first brush with crypto trading has been rough, but you need to learn how to manage your money and think things through...

Attention Masternode Owners / Investors!

Real life makes me be relatively offline these days (good because of work, bad because its such a critical time to be semi-offline)

I will be CLOSING my Masternode setup services right when  RC4 rolls out, for about 2, possibly 3 weeks. Why?

 a) I want to cater to all my MN clients, 100% for free!! Meaning, updating all of them to RC4 as quick as possible, to get the Masternode network up and running as smoothly as possible!! So, I will not be taking on new MN setups when we fork.

 b) As soon as that is done, I going on holidays, for the said 2, maybe 3 weeks. Hopefully, by the time I get back, the price to acquire 1000 DRKs will be prohibitive  Grin

So... if you're thinking of setting up a node using my services, do it now! Or hold the DRKs until I get back. Your choice.
Currently, I am free Thursday and Friday morning only, (GMT+1), the weekend, and relatively free next week.

This is basically as last call for action... Being that many are waiting for the end of the month to take advantage of these ridiculous prices to get the 1k, I will accept time-slot reservations!!

Pm me if interested, or refer to this thread for further details.

https://darkcointalk.org/threads/yidakees-helpdesk-masternode-setup-services-ghostplayer-on-bitcointalk.1633/

Thank you!

Saturday 1pm (GMT+1) I am booked for a few hours... slots free the rest of the weekend so far...

Weekend is officially booked, and I'm unavailable Monday !!  Free again starting Tuesday!!  Dont miss out on this great chance!

Booked Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning!

Something that I've wanted in every coin's wallet is a possibility to select multiple rows from transactions list, and copy the rows to clipboard (to be pasted to excel or similar). A bonus would be a running total count similar to excel where you select multiple rows, and the transaction values would be added up to a total sum that would be displayed in the bottom status bar. This would allow you for example to sort by Address, and select only transactions from certain pool or w/e, and immediately see the total amount received. Obviously this is something that can be added later (by anyone as it's open source!) but I just wanted to mention it in case you're already thinking of doing something similar. Smiley

+1

I've longed for an input-selectable SUM column many times.

Integrating simple tools like this would be of tremendous benefit to merchants.

I know you can Export transactions, but smaller companies and individuals that don't have the know-how or resources to auto-parse that into a spreadsheet or whatever would definitely make use of some simple in-wallet accounting tools.

EDIT:
I'm working really, really hard to complete this wallet overhaul in time for the big RC4 release and trying to coordinate my work with Evan so we can make it happen. We still don't have any concrete release date, and I'd be lying if I tried to give you one. But if I had to make an educated guess, I would say that seeing RC4 within another 2-4 weeks is possible. Again, that's just a guess based on where I'm currently at and where Evan, flare and the other devs are at with their workload. It could, with any luck, come sooner... and if things get delayed it could be later. So please take my guess for what it is and don't bet any money on it!  Wink

Also worth mentioning is that the new wallet software will indeed include a feature to automatically convert payment amounts from DRK, BTC, fiat, etc. Need to quick-send your friend $50? No longer will it be necessary to minimize your wallet, open a calculator, check prices on exchanges, do the math yourself then copy+paste the correct amount of DRK into your payment form. You can simply select "USD" from the combo-box, enter a value of 50.00 and the wallet software will calculate the correct amount of DRK for you. When you click the "Send" button a small confirmation window will pop up and say something like "You are attempting to send 7.14 DRK ($50.00 USD) to [recipient]. Is this correct?" and there will be a "Confirm" and "Cancel" button. That way it will help you avoid any mistakes you may have made if you, for example, forgot to select the right thing or entered the wrong amount.

I'm doing everything I can think of to make the new Darkcoin wallet a self-sufficient piece of software. Current crypto wallet designs require too much switching to other applications and tools to check things, convert prices/currencies, copy+paste addresses and data, etc. I'm trying to eliminate all those extra complications so that you can figure out everything directly from your wallet without switching apps to improve your personal workflow and reduce the amount of mistakes you make with transactions.

What most of the people do not understand on the forum here: when you lose money, don't blame the coin, you're bad at investing!
You are not an investor if you buy a few random altcoins!
DRK didn't lose half your money, you lost it. I'm assuming that you bought in near the highest price that DRK was at, hence you being a bad investor.
Now chill out.

Hey everyone,

I'm pleased to announce that my project team and I have decided on the final design of the new Darkcoin wallet software and UI. The new Darkcoin wallet will look like this:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-- EDIT --
As Mangled Blue suggested, the arrows for incoming/outgoing tx's will
be properly re-oriented in the actual software. Bear in mind the images you
see below of the new wallet are just a mock-up constructed from our PSDs
of the user interface and not screenshots of the actual software itself.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Light/White Skin

Dark/Blue Skin

You'll be able to choose your desired skin/theme and modify colors to your liking. We may support custom layouts in the future as well, but for now we must focus on functionality and completing the work in a timely fashion.  Smiley

You can view yesterday's status report on the wallet overhaul at DarkcoinTalk.org...

Right then...........................

I made a post earlier this evening about a correction for the soon to be new DRK Wallet design.
I was finally able to make a grafx showing what I mean..

The Send and Receive arrows need to be flipped vertically to properly represent a SEND and RECEIVE
A Send is an UPLOAD (arrow up) and
A Receive is a DOWNLOAD (arrow down)

I hope raze and and the crew takes this into consideration before the final release.
Even though it's a minor change - I really do think the SEND and RECEIVE should be better represented to be more accurate

Then I got ta messin around with the Pix and realized that the MASTERNODE needs a symbol,
....maybe even if a MANUAL DEMONINATE button is added later.....

I was thinking it should look something like this

Then with the DRK D

and then the bigger picture with title

These are not really finished PIX but more of a concept in design.
....but I do hope they are considered in the final product

Thanx for checkin it out :-)

Hey there,

Thank you for pointing this out. Your suggestion makes perfect sense, and is actually more consistent with the other graphics/icons than the way we presented it in the mock-up. I will see to it that we flip the arrows as you suggested.

Thanks for making Darkcoin a little bit better today! :-)

I think that looking at the number of masternodes, how many people have already invested - now at ~745, if all goes well with RC4, we are going to see a rise in price thats going to shock the hell out of the crypto world.

Thats a great point. In my opinion it will be bigger once its open source but you're right, people will want drk's but a lot will be stored for masternodes.

This is a point in time where:

* Investors and active supporters are holding
* Potential investors are sitting on the sideline waiting for code release
* Traders are sitting waiting for announcement of RC4 date
* Sellers have sold
* Price pressure is mainly from multi-pools

So, IMO, this is a moment in history where you can't complain about the entry point for Master Nodes.

One to two months ago people were saying Master Nodes were too expensive. Well, there is right this moment a temporary fix for that complaint. When people start saying that again in 2-3 weeks time, I will re-post this:

In the third week in July 2014, right before the unique DRK anon code was released to the world and DRKs were affordable, you should have bought in.  Instead, you decided to wait a little longer. That was your choice. You didn't want to take the risk on the uncertainty. Plenty of others were.

So now, stop fucking complaining about the high price of Darkcoins. There is no advantage to early investors, they were just prepared to use Google for a few hours to take a look at the anon options in the market and the issues around privacy and the lack of it in Bitcoin, Litecoin and many other coins.

These guys looked at the close relationship Darkcoin has with Bitcoin and Litecoin, and how these established coins could be at a disadvantage in some circumstances from their lack of privacy and how easily Darkcoin could be added alongside them to fix privacy issues for those that wanted that reassurance.

Yes there are other anon options, but which can be slotted next to Bitcoin and Litecoin without too much work, that is the question you must ask yourself as the price continues to steadily increase.

What is more than certain is that the high price you are complaining about now will simply continue to increase. If it hurts you to buy now, it will be completely out of your reach next month.

The only person you can blame for the high price of Darkcoin and your inability to afford a MN is you.

I'm quoting Anonymint from another thread where he talks about I2P on top of anonymous coins, to ask a development question on how we can implement I2P in Darkcoin.... I've bolded the part which I want to highlight:

However, these low latency networks admit in their FAQs that they are not able to obscure from an adversary who can see both the entry and exit traffic because timing analysis can be employed. If you only have a few pools, then the exit nodes for mining shares and transactions should be known and hackers can target their ISP or upstream router (correct me if I am wrong).

Regarding DRK, I2P integration is planned because without IP obfuscation, anonymity is bust... so, my question is this: Can an I2P network (or the wallet?) be configured in such a way as to group broadcasts at certain time intervals? Like once per minute at 13:56:00, 13:57:00, 13:58:00, 13:59:00, 14:00:00 etc. In this way it would be much more resistant to timing-analysis (or so I figure - may be wrong).

Just throwing thoughts around.

Timing analysis is impossible when the whole blockchain I/O is homogenous, as it will be with Darksend+

It's like looking for a needle in a haystack, except there is no needle, just hay, and all the hay looks the same. Wink

End-to-end encryption should be pretty straightforward to bolt on to the client when everything else is working smoothly... ip obfuscation is a bit harder to do properly from my limited understanding.
