Can someone give me the cliffnotes version of happenings since friday?

There has been nothing noteworthy except a joint statement by DRK & XC devs to continue without attacks between the two communities.

The end game is not to make people USD ?

I´m in Gold and Silver. Gold was backed by the stars. The one and only real currency crisis.

Coins are means for the purpose and for my quick wealth multiplication.

Not a lot really. MN payments continuing, only about 50% of blocks are found by complying pools so there is a little concern about all the bad actors. Evan released a brief note on RC4 and a different MN voting approach. More discussion over variance but El Presidente has been checking recorded block templates for people to show that their MNs are in fact working, but that the block finders simply didn't pay the fee.

Jeez, another dump, looks like we'll be testing 0.01 before going back up...
I didn't see that one coming   Huh

The regular intervals are unnatural as well. Seems like someone trying to crash the price. Luckily they will eventually run out of coins.

mintpal dump their coin for more trade Grin

Maybe ppl sold DRK to join VRC pump ?

There has been nothing but talk of profit from running a masternode.  Now you're saying that profit isn't the end game?  Profit is the only game many people are playing.

All these excuses and reasons for the price going down is starting to sound ridiculous.  It's quite simple actually.  There are more sellers than buyers.  People are moving to other opportunities...

Not very many of them are.

Although the price has drifted, not very much volume has gone out of the coin - only about half of one percent of the money supply has been traded over the last couple of days.

That may still happen but it's happened to all of them and whatever the merits or otherwise of the masternode system, it is an original concept that's now going to be perfected over the next few weeks and months. Thats the main reason I'm in this - because it's a genuinely original technical project which, while having some growing pains, has got the makings of a sound end product that will be very difficult to reproduce.

Also take into account that a lot of DRK has been being dumped by multipools in the last few days with Darkcoin being the more profitable X11 coin.   That doesn't last forever.

Multipools push the price down, when the coin isn't being gang mined by multi poolers, the price comes back up.
If other coin can dump drk using their multipool why shouldn't we do the same?Huh
Use our DRK MULTIPOOL @ XPOOL.CA
I'm waiting for the next shift on DRK to compare with my other X11 rigs/p2pools (working at same difficulty).

Then, repeat by moving some scrypt gridseeds and compare with the traditional method using the exchange.

This first X11 test will be fundamental to evaluate how xpool.ca works.

I was trying to find the xpool.ca fees but no luck. The web site doesn't have too much information. (if someone knows th
e fees schedule, I will appreciate the info).
There are not any fees...so far as crackfoo wrote me on pm.
But it does not mean therewill be once he accomplish the work.

Crackfoo meaby you will write your three words Smiley?

thats right, at the moment, I'm not applying any pool fees. The only places the loses occur are tx fee's to and from the exchanges for non DRK coins. Any DRK blocks found during a shift simply go into the payout queue.

There are no fees ATM as there are still some minor disruptions (stratum resets) when coins are activated/deactivated. I'm working to improve that aspect of the backend so there are no disruptions. So for this minor annoyance I'll keep no fees in hopes it will keep the miners happy to stay while improvements are implemented. Donations are always welcome and the addy is listed in the footer.

This is a holiday week in Canada so spending more time with the family. I'll evaluate the current shifts tonight and by the looks of it will run the payouts.

Cheers!

Yeah, it's interesting, ca. 5000 drk dump every 3-4h,looks almost like someone with a lot of coins exits slowly, letting bit of support to build up.

Large holder trying to exit without crashing the price too much.
I would say that some exchange sold some coins to pay the cost of activity.

EDIT (6/28/2014)
New clients have been released and more changes have been made. Current versions are v9.11.5 and v10.11.5. It is important that all solo-miners and pool operators update to the correct clients! Miners make the network work, and as such you need to use the right client versions, stay up to date and keep our blockchain healthy and stable!

You can find the new client software on the official downloads page of www.Darkcoin.io.

Darkcoin uses Darksend, based on CoinJoin, to break up transactions into a pool then the receiver can get those transactions in sections. It will appear as one lump to and from for the users. In reality, it uses master nodes to do this. However, if a master node is hacked or used to monitor Darksend, it can get the IP addresses for each transaction. This means, FBI can monitor Darkcoin transactions if they want or a hacker, etc. The master node has a slave node as a backup but it can be compromised as well. The only true anonymous transaction is in cash.

Maybe i´m wrong. But... why should i make the few Masternode Inholder even richer? There are a lot of new Coins i can make profit quickndirty regarding to rising Bitcoin.

If you're only interested in crypto as a FIAT investment medium, then by all means, do whatever works best in that regard.  The end game is not to make people USD.  It's to make functional anonymous crypto-currency.

Hmm, reading through this thread would bring an individual to a different conclusion.

People are moving to other opportunities.  You don't need any fancy charts, analysis, or statistics to come to that conclusion.  BTC is going up and it's a sea of green in the altcoin world yet Darkcoin is still going down.  People are obviously getting out of Darkcoin and moving to other things.  I think the masternode payments to a few large holders has done more damage to this coin than anything.  It's a failed model even if it works flawlessly.  It's  inequitable.

People are motivated by many considerations. Yes, profit is ONE of many. But only one. We (the entire crypto community) are changing the world, and I'd be a part of it even if it wasn't for potential financial gains.

I have to say that I think you're a little premature in making such sweeping generalizations of a product that's not even out of the beta phase yet. If you want certainty, do something else with your money and come back once the product is complete and open sourced. You will almost certainly pay vastly more, but you will have the benefit of taking less risk.

I just applied for a $100k loan with my bank. Hopefully it will get accepted soon. Desperately need to buy more DRK at these ridiculously low prices.

If you're serious, then I admire the hell out of you, sir.

I remember reading about a guy that took out a second mortgage when silver prices were at $4, and thinking he had balls of steel. And he's frigging rich now, too =)
