I had to create a meme to process what happened today:

Hope it makes someone smile.

Maybe DRK should abandon masternodes entirely? Masternodes have ruined the price.

uh.. that's needed for the privacy.

CryptCoin is going on BTCe, could be a big deal.
Hmm. The only news is that the coin dev said that the rumours that it may be being added to BTC-E soon are true. Grin i.e. yes, it may be added, because they have applied to btc-e. That's it And all the usual fontas-esqu shills, pumpers and con artists are tweeting it like crazy as if it's being added for sure while everyone sells into their inflated walls.

The shady russian exchange is no factor. These are criminals.

Grin i.e. yes, it may be added, because they have applied to btc-e, and gives a suggestively worded description of the application process. That's it. And all the usual fontas-esqe shills, pumpers and con artists are tweeting it like crazy as if it's being added for sure while everyone sells into their inflated walls.

[Edit: and if CryptCoin pumpers come here again tonight, I'm posting the above into their thread  Tongue]

I completely agree. We all have to remember that all the innovative things are an experiment; it's natural that we are facing problems that CANNOT BE PREDICTED BEFORE. What Evan (and all the community) is doing is to explore a way for the first time, with all the consequences.
It's an empirical way to find a solution. We don't have to fear the partial failure (as in this case).
This is the only way that we know to achieve the result

Its going to take one more month for what you call "simple problem" ?

It'd be better to let the devs work without the stress of the market so that they deliver a bug-free feature. IMO the coin's reputation cannot afford a 3rd failure to migrate to the new payments system. A quick & dirty fix that could possibly lead to another problem is by far worse than waiting for some weeks. My 2 cents

When the first delay occurred, people were like "if there is a second delay, the coin will die".
When the first fork happened, people were like "if there is a second fork, the coin will die".

It seems to me like the benchmark is always re-positioned to the next possible make-it/break-it point to add extra excitement and drama.

If people have unrealistic expectations of what a development project is, that's their problem. I think the market is showing tremendous levels of maturity and now understands the situation far better.

I'm not saying a 3rd failure would be the end, but it would definitely have an impact on the coin's reputation.

The bottom line is that the migration plan was not good.

Migrations happen everyday on very large scale systems. Nothing breaks, because there are good and well-tested migration plans.

Please, keep in mind that there is a serious amount of money that is being traded out there. Be professionals and have a good migration plan next time.

Please keep in mind that never has a migration like this been done. In the history of computers. So realize that these successfull migrations you are talking about stand on the shoulders of countless failures before them to learn better methods.

The plan was quite solid. The problem, was a race condition was introduced, that it is unlikely 6 months of testing, without production level hashing power, could have determined. It was much better to be discovered now, then to have caused larger issues later, when no one would have been watching for it.

Good the bug and solution found. Sad, panic sellers have stopped panicking. But that is also good. Overall, congrats to the dev team.

What does "no masternode payment yet" mean?

- masternode payments don't work?
- masternode payments not activated?
- masternode payments working/in progress but still need time for first MN payment to go through? (if this: Why?)

DRK = failed!

Go fuck yourelf!

Evan showed once again what an incredible dev he is.  He stood strong and did what was best for DRK in the face of what would be insurmountable opposition to most people.  EVERY SINGLE PERSON in IRC was saying not to revert.  I didn't see a single person supporting his decision yet he stood firm because he knew it was the right decision.  I guarantee you this, should Evan ever decide to start a company after DRK and needs Venture Capital, VC's will be throwing money at him.

I agree. That must have taken some bottle.

He is quite a guy to have at the helm of a project like this. In the end that'll be what makes it.

+1 completely agree

I don't agree. He has pulled the hardfork to the 20th of june, although there has been major problems with the masternodes on testnet!

this.

It is amazing to think that a pretty straightforward bug, not found during 4 weeks of "intensive" testing, suddenly appeared out of the blue after 20 minutes in the prod environment. It also means that catastrophic showstoppers could potentially occur anytime during the next attempt, since the testnet environment sounds rather much ineffective.

ok going to bed truly this time

Buddy, I am sorry, but concerning 4/, I still can't fathom with the fork could not go ahead ESPECIALLY since it was apparently caused by a minor and rare issue - 2 blocks simultaneous with different MN votes. We will never know, but it seems to me it is preposterous to pretend it was the best decision.
I understand your perspective.  But I guarantee you the people with 7 figure investments appreciate Evan taking the conservative route.  Heck, I bet many people with 4, 5, and 6 figure investments appreciate it.

I wouldn't have the capital in DRK I do if Evan wasn't the way he is.  It wouldn't be worth the risk.

Agreed. Things must be done in a responsible manner. If it needs more works and tweaks, then let's wait for the best. The charts and rates are of no significance and must not disturb all the serious works demanded here.

I am happy with darkcoin proposal and I have no hurry for results. I just want the best results in the end: that's what matters.

All the best! Proud to be here.

Watch, we will be back at .02 within just a few hrs.  DRK is a survivor and as someone mentioned earlier, Evan cares more about perfection than money!!  That thinking will cause DRK to skyrocket!!

Agree'd took MASSIVE balls to do what Evan did - and it was the RIGHT decision to ensure that we have a 100% solid solution. No matter how small the bug, he wants it fixed now.

I would rather have this in RC3 then during open source....

Didnt sell a single coin and dont plan to for a long time!
