Way too much speed of growth for no reason whatsoever, except sudden rush in BTC price. Could explain DRK rose, but whoever is injecting this amount into BTC is not thinking of DRK until Darksend is fully implemented.

I think the introduction of ASICs and the news about the 50+% pool have taken their toll. Also the growing realization that there are altcoins out there such as DRK, XCP, BTS, etc. which actually DO something that Bitcoin does not. They have usefulness beyond being mere tokens to convey value from one person to another. The mere change of hashing algorithm from SHA256 is not sufficient to differentiate a coin from Bitcoin.

The graph depicts market "depth" or how many orders are currently in the system. The numbers on the left are the numbers of BTC at each price level. The numbers on the bottom indicate the price level. Green is buy orders, red is sell orders. So there are a lot of people (100 BTC worth) ready to buy at .0197 or so. There is another 50BTC backing that up, ready to buy at .0190. On the sell side, there are a lot of people (100BTC worth) ready to sell at .0210 or so. In between, there is not much depth and we will see swings between these two levels until one of the walls either disappears (people take their orders off the market) or is eaten away (if people buy 100BTC worth of DRK at .0210, then that wall will have been eaten away).
