I don't think these people realize that when someone buys with such veracity the order book is cleared up to that point. Sure, some asks might fill in, but they won't be there in the volume they were prior to that clearing. It's much easier for it to go higher after such an event.

market was moving super fast. If you're using a web browser, sometimes those bids were stale. I routinely put in bids and asks way above or below market to make sure it gets filled.
