I'm having a strange issue.. one machine (ubuntu) refuses to update it's wallet. I've deleted literally everything (the darkcoin/ directory and the .darkcoin/ directory) and rebuilt it. As before, it hung on s bunch of orphan blocks from about 6 days ago. So, I deleted and rebuilt everything again, then took everything in the .darkcoin/ directory from a currently working wallet (except wallet.dat) and copied it into the new directory so it would (theoretically) have a decent blockchain to start from and only be a block behind. It found one block, and then stopped communicating with the blockchain.

I can post the debug log if someone wants to help. It has completely screwed my Saturday Sad I was hoping to have a nice smooth p2pool transition

I just pushed this branch, try it and let me know if that works:

Don't try for cheap trades fellas.
You might regret.

Well Cryptsy just did the opposite of what everyone (including the darkcoin devs) asked them to do for Darkcoin. They decreased minimum order size which will allow the bot to save money while lowering our price artifically! Good job Cryptsy!

Yeah I spotted that - first they say they won't do anything to help then they go and do something to actively hurt the coin? Maybe the whale *is* Craptsy ;-)

That was my thought all week. When will another exchange take them out already! We need to get on btc-e.

32bit? There's a few people that have experienced that problem with 32bit linux specifically. I'll take a look at that next week

I know this is not the orthodox solution, but you can try this:

1. Make a script that runs sgminer repeatedly
2. On another window, run: while [ 1 ]; do killall sgminer; sleep 600; done

The first script will make sure sgminer is started and running time over time.
The second command / script will make sure that sgminer is killed every 10 minutes (600 secs)

When it is killed, the first script will restart it.

I offer a 30 darkcoin Bounty to someone abble to fix my problem with my R9 290.

Summary: my cards started at 2.4MH/S and after 10 minutes they loose 10% and are stable at 2.1MH/S

This happened on all my cards, on all motherboards, under BAMT.

I noticed all the cards have the drop on the exact same second (on one motherboard of course).

I have 2 other cards on windows 8.1 that are stable at 2.5MH and from time to tim (this morning) I have the same drop (watercooling cards)

When the drop happened, the only way to recover the lost hash is to shutdown the machine (a mine restart did not do the job: I don't have higher hashrate)

If I put another card on the same rig, after 10 min, all the 290 will have a drop, and the other card (7950/270/7970) will not have any loss.

If I use thoses cards to mine Scrypt coins, no drop.
Further developpement:

I downloaded the BAMT version from Bajawah with sph-miner. No change.
I bought a 860W platinium PSU. I plug 2 290 ands the mother board on that psu, and the third 290 and the 270 on another 750w psu: about 10 minutes laters, on the exact same second, the 3 290 (on 2 different psu) loose 10% hashrate.

So, I think it is not a psu problem. (bad purchase)
The 30 darkcoin bounty is still valid.

...unless this coin explodes so hard in its profitability and useability that almost every GPU miner moves to mine DRK

I agree this an overwhelmingly optimistic scenario, but i STRONGLY BELIEVE that the notion that 99% of cryptos are worthless in value is spreading throughout miners' notion as we speak, and with Asic coming soon, GPU miners will abandon all scamcoins and focus on 'One-[ASIC Resistant]-Winner takes all'.
That winner will not be selected based on fairytale stories, cure names and alike, but on STRONG technological advantage.

I think GPU miners primarily look at their wallet and their profit making... the moment that non-scrypt coins like sha-512, scrypt-n etc stop paying for them, they'll switch. And it's highly likely this will happen. I see Vert has positioned itself through coinwarz as the shinier alternative to scrypt coins etc that are "dead due to ASIC" etc etc, yet it is not an algorithm which is safer, more asic resistant, more cpu balanced (~1:3 top cpu vs top gpu hashrates) or energy efficient than X11 of DRK. But it's good that the miners are going there instead of here.

Enjoy your posts and this is spot on. I see most altcoin clones will adopt X11 going forward and many are going to change their existing hashing just like AIRCoin. If Ethereum chooses X11 (and not scrypt), those KnC Scrypt miners will not see ROI.

Pre-sale - March 18
x11 phenomena

People have gotten their eyes on this now and it becomes more used and known as other currencies adopt this.

No other coin with x11 has really stricken through, yet.

This makes me think of the importance to start with the base structures importance --> fix homepage and other basics, and really get going with the marketing now.

There's still a possibility that Darkcoin can be used as a just a stepping stone. (Likely or not)

Make it famous with what we have already - It has already out-teched all other coins --> Bring more people to the community. All new adopters love the mining of the coin and it's a fact.

I say use that and don't just live off DarkSend which a lot of investors now currently just believe will set the new value of the coin.

Get the marketing going and in a big scale! (my 1 cent (poor student))

Where can I buy Dark? Which exchanges?

crytpsy, mintpal, c-cex etc

Man, I wish there was a fiat exchange so DRK could float against the euro and dollar instead of rising and falling (in relative value) with BTC...

+1 meaby in the nerby future....

We have good chances of being added to Vault of Satoshi from Canada. They are completely transparent and provide amazing service. They actually have a phone line you can call and speak to someone within a minute. They'll offer DRK/$ trades.

i.e. if we reach x5 the amount of hash required for producing a new block every 2.5min (with a reward of 5 DRK), then difficulty is set so that the block is generated every 30sec while the reward is sliced to 1/5 the minimum - aka 1 coin per fast block of 30sec.

This way, the total amount of reward stays the same but since we have 'so much' hash-power, we can benefit from a very fast confirmation rate. Such fast confirmation rate will obviously translate into a more convenient 'currency' (higher velocity of money). This will make Darkcoin shine as -
a) a great currency
b) a great store of value

*p.s. I know there are orphan blocks, forks, and less security the shorter the block rate is, but we are talking about a very high intensity of hashrate.

Exchanges treat short-confirmation coins as less secure and thus require higher number of confirmations before accepting the transaction as valid. On the other hand, in some cases Bitcoin is accepted with just 2 confirmations. This kind of negates the benefit of having shorter confirmation times but you also end up with a bloated blockchain and bigger risk of forks. I think fast-block coins like DOGE will experience serious bloat issues.

Can someone explain something to me (like I'm five)?

I see discussion about how people will be able to make transaction fees. This seems to appear in discussions about why miners would still be interested in the coin once mining becomes too difficult or all the coins are distributed (according to the possible new schedule Evan talked about). Also seems to come up in discussions about "nodes." What are nodes? Are they part of the Darksend implementation?

Sorry if I'm confusing a number of different issues, just trying to understand a little better.

Seems to me that alot of people dont really care about the coin, or its future, by sticking to a pool that has more than 50% of all the hashing power, they are sending a bad signal to potential interrested users/investors

i mine at coinmine.pl what other good and STABLE  SECUR pool do you recomend? i can switch the pool np

http://darkcoin.mine.nu
http://drk.suchpool.com
http://lotterymining.com
http://drkpool.com

lotterymining is my own pool, but i really dont care where you mine, the most important part is, we need to get it leveled out more, it doesnt look good when its one pool that has more than 50%.

I tried almost every pool by then and coinmine, lotterymining and drkpool all give me 0.0% Rejects. Maybe one or two rejects a day but much less than P2P Pool. I'm currently trying P2P pool how that works out for DRK, but it hasnt been 48 hours to say if gives as much DRK as the pools.

Really guys, move your miners off coinmine. Every pool gives you the same amount of DRK and we don't have to worry for 51% attacks. This is a serious issue. We should have way more big pools like coinmine and suchpool percentage wise..

at least 24 hours. share chain length is 24 hours.

Darkcoin p2pool has sub web link /static/classic/ , and /static/classic/graphs.html .
You can find current payout and hashrate of your rig at /static/classic/graphs.html .
http://example_server:7903/static/classic/graphs.html  replace example_server to your selected server ip or name
