iCEY you're back. Good to see, you are like a lucky charm for this thread. I expect Dash price should get a nice boost now.

A few general comments about your recent posts. The insults you bring to the debate indicate to me that you are not very confident on the foundations of your stance.

10,000 lines of code does not mean quality code in any meaningful way unless you are an IT manager from 20 years ago. But maybe you don't know much about coding. In fact considering all this effort has gone into creating features noone wants, (except for litecoin) at the moment you'd have to say it is bloat.

Offchain scaling (or layer one and a half or layer one and three quarters) is still not a good solution for bitcoin.

Free Talk Live Appearance - Dash Force News

Last night Joel was on Free Talk Live for the full three-hour segment, talking about Dash and cryptocurrency.

Free Talk Live is a nightly call-in radio show and podcast covering a variety of issues related to current events and libertarianism, including cryptocurrency. The show has been covering Bitcoin since 2011 and has had big industry players such as Gavin Andresen and Evan Duffield on as guests in the early days.

Ooh, shiny things!!
iCEY also doesn't seem to understand the genius of Dash being made Bitcoin compatible the way it was in the beginning.  This compatibility means that Dash has always been able to keep up-to-date with incorporating Bitcoin's latest code.  Dash isn't a stale fork from old deprecated code, it's an active fork of the latest Bitcoin code with lots of Dash improvements and refinements and awesome Dash innovation that means Dash will always be superior to Bitcoin.

I can't find any mention of Dash on Coinapult's website yet.  Is Dash live after you sign up and in or am I just a bit early to the party?

Maxwell invented CoinJoin so he does actually know exactly what he's talking about when it comes to Dash's (lack of) privacy.

Maxwell can "LoL" at Dash all he likes, but Dash is solving the "right" problem (monetary fungibility) while he's solving the wrong one (encrypted messaging).

The privacy solutions he presents all belong in the domain of payment systems, not stores of value. As such they are incomplete and work by exception to the core blockchain protocol.

For example...

What is a sidechain ?
From a cryptographic point of view, it's an interesting concept - turn a bitcoin into basically any type of alt-coin you want. But from a monetary point of view, what are you doing ? You are doing reverse fungibility, turning the entire coin supply into a kind of chameleon-like asset that has no static properties and where one part of the coin supply is distinct form another instead of indistinct.

What is mechanical pegging ?
From a cryptographical point of view it's an interesting concept - save noobs from "dangerous" pump & dump alts and allow them to hold interesting experimental tokens risk-free, mollycoddled by the safety of the mothership. But from an economic point of view, what are you doing ? Creating an extremely nasty economic coupling between markets that transmits volatility from where it does belong to where it doesn't. (See Bretton Woods for previous and Euro for current failed precedents).

What is "Cryptographic Transaction Privacy" ?
From a cryptographical point of view it's an interesting concept - allow transactions to take place in private, obscured from the view of onlookers. But from a systems analysis point of view, what are you doing ? Confusing the priorities of a trading platform with those of an electronic asset (which happen to be in conflict and which is why Dash avoided "Cryptographic Transaction Privacy" in the first place in order to support the priorities of compatibility with the Bitcoin ecosystem, supply fungibility, blockchain transparency and optimal economic store of value).

What is "Standard" ?
From a technology point of view, it's a desirable concept - a reference framework to which everyone conforms in order to facilitate universal interoperability. Greg Maxwell sees electronic assets as if they were some kind of RFC where's there's no point in "not conforming". (He's on record both in print and video with this explicit opinion). But from an asset portfolio point of view, what does that represent ? The exact opposite of best practice investment philosophy where diversity, not conformity is optimal.

Warning: ICEBreaker on this Forum is a troll!
Maxwell invented CoinJoin so he does actually know exactly what he's talking about when it comes to Dash's (lack of) privacy.

The entire room (not only the speaker) burst into peals of laughter when he mocked Dash for being an instamined scam with shitty "snake oil" technology.

Dash is a laughingstock among the entire crypto community, not just Evil Blockstreamers like gmax and Stupid Trolls from the Monero camp.

Haven't you noticed that Dash is * L I T E R A L L Y  a  J O K E * among serious crypto people?

You lost Tone Vays and all your other non-cultist supporters over the Instamine controversy, yet you insist on pretending that Instamine was some great blessing.  WTF man?  Don't you feel ashamed of using poster-child-for-shitty-scamcoin-marketing tactics to sell non-technical people on Dash's worst-in-class technology?

I guess you wouldn't, since you spent decades taking advantage of gambling addicts and semi-senile elderly people in your casino.   Embarrassed

Did you see this?  http://bitsonline.com/gaw-miners-paycoin-garza-guilty/

It will be a great day when Evan and you plead guilty and begin waiting for your sentences to be handed down.  May Justice be done to the fullest extent of the Law.
This post is a little more juicy. So Maxwell created the basic idea for Dash's PrivateSend implementation, so that gives him the knowledge to criticize it now, after tons of refinements, and countless github commits? If he actually bothered to review it, I could take him seriously.

I couldn't care less about what a pro-Bitcoin group of people think about Dash. We are coming for their lunch, and they know it. That nervous laughter and coughing you described? It's going to get a lot more nervous when we start coming after their marketcap with a solid foundation and the governance and funding to succeed where they are failing.

As far as being a laughingstock, people are entitled to their opinions. You know what they say, opinions are like *ssholes...

The instamine WAS a blessing in disguise. It led to a committed developer, which led to many committed developers, which led to a passionate, inspired community, which led to a solid network and technology that gave Dash the tools to succeed, which will lead to Dash becoming the digital currency of choice for global finance. You can't argue with history. Dash is killing it, plain and simple. (More nervous laughing and coughing)

I've made some of those "gambling addicts" some serious money by getting them to invest in Dash. Dash Nation is vast and strong, and we are not going anywhere, despite what some nerd thinks about us.

How is Dash coming for Bitcoin's lunch, when the current version of Core is 10s of 1000s of lines of code ahead of the deprecated version from which Dash forked many years ago?

You know you don't have the manpower (much less brainpower) to refactor and pull all those bug fixes, optimizations, and groundbreaking new technology (RBF/SEGWIT/ETC.) into Dash.

You are deluding yourself and others with the cargo cult fantasy that Evan the Ginger Genius of Phoenix is a magical wunderkind capable of out-developing Bitcoin Core.

It ain't gonna happen.  Dash is already light years behind, while Bitcoin and Litecoin are about to accelerate to Ludicrous Speed.   Cheesy

Really DASH is behind bitcoin?, WOW either your living in dream world or your just plainly dont want to listen and are playing ignorant.

In what way is DASH behind Bitcoin? or let me put it, In what way is Bitcoin ahead of DASH?, just because DASH forked bitcoin's code doesn’t put it behind. Tell me oen thing bitcoin dev/community has made strides in the past few years and then ask what DASH has done in those years, i could give you a list. The bitcoin devs/community cannot reach a simple agreement on increasing block size from 1mb to 2mb. Dash with the assistance of its governance model (Yes DASH was the first to implement this) reached a consensus in 24 hours to increase it. Dash was the first to develop Instant Send (transactions can occur within 1-2 seconds and confirmed) faster then a debit card transaction, The first to have a much better privacy model then bitcoin (PrivateSend), The first to build a governance model which allows the community to vote on budget proposals. The first to have the 2 tire network (Masternodes) which users are incentivised the spin up - Hmmm bitcoin offers nothing the likes of.. The first coin to fund itself.. correct me if i'm wrong, but DASH has now more budget to work on improving its coin more then Bitcoin has ever got. The first to develop DAPI (De-centralised API), the first to implement Evolution which will rid everyday users of cryptographic addresses if they need to and you can send DASH by means of a username (like paypal), The first to implement ISA saving like accounts, again these will be incentivised. The list goes on and on... Now tell me how is DASH behind Bitcoin?? no let me tell you Instead... The only reason why Bitcoin is ahead is because it was the first cryptocurrency and became popular, it was *meant to be a cryptocurrency and i stress meant as till this day it hasn’t lived up to its name to be as such. Over the years it's lost its market cap and quite recently actually a few days ago (it lost a bit more of its mojo and its dominance fell under 60%, its currently @ Dominance: 59.7%, Ref: http://coinmarketcap.com/charts/#btc-percentage

Are you sure about manpower?, how much full time devs does bitcoin have...? hmm my guess under 15-20.. Well DASH has recruited quite a bit and is still recruiting, the team is growing at such as fast pace that it has more developers now then bitcoin will ever have, who knows we may even see some of those p**** of** bitcoin developers moving to work for DASH (if their good). Just keep an eye on this page: https://www.dash.org/team/ (not everyone is listed their right now, just give it a few days and you'll see an update shortly). Why does DASH even need segwit?? its probably slower then Instant Send anyway and probably worser off in the long run.

Well were not deluding ourselves that Evan is a wonderkid, we know his a genius wonderkid. He asked for assistance and wanted to fix Bitcoins flaws but the dev's ignored him and he went his own way... and what kind of deluded person builds DASH that's worth a market cap of more then half a billion dollars??

Don't be too sure,it will happen, once Evolution is released: https://www.dash.org/evolution/ all those bitcoin lovers will flock over to DASH and not only those geeks, it will be normal everyday people making use of DASH aka Digital cash as a cryptocurrency. I believe that your just scared of competition and you and others like you know that DASH is making significant gains  and is the only true competitor to bitcoin. Watch out DASH is coming and is going to knock out that number 1 seat which BItcoin has been cosy'ing up to for the past few years.

Crypto is the separation of Power and State.
Last week at Coinbase gmax gave a talk on Confidential Transactions which covered the various privacy-enhancing techniques used by different coins.

Here's what the world-class cryptographic expert had to say about Dash.

Quote from: Greg Maxwell, 28 April 2017

https://youtu.be/LHPYNZ8i1cU?t=34m11s

"Dash isn't cryptographically private AT ALL."

"Actually I had a slide in the deck that was like 'DASH...LOL' and nothing else..."

[*room explodes in loud spontaneous laughter, confirming that Dash is considered a joke and used as a punchline by the community, which has zero respect for it*]

"...it's SNAKE OIL, right?  And I'm just sort of beside myself about it, personally."

[*nervous laughter, uncomfortable coughing*]

"What Dash has is a system that's like Coinjoin, but you don't need a new cryptocurrency for Coinjoin and they nominate nodes based on proof of stake to be Coinjoin masters and they've done this INSECURELY many times in the past so I have no clue if the current version is secure or not."

"It's not really on the same level as something like Zcash or Monero.  Maybe it's better than doing nothing?  I don't know."

[*even more laughter at Dash's expense, as it the bottomless depth of the crowd's contempt for Evan's Instamined scamcoin becomes clear*]

"Yah.  I dunno lol.  Undecided"

Thanks, iCEBREAKER. This statement you so usefully posted indicates that your hero G. Maxwell hasn't the slightest idea of what he is talking about when it comes to Dash. Thanks for posting it!

I look forward to his next talk.

Litecoin, an unoriginal bitcoin clone is almost double market cap of Dash and broke above $1 Billion. Because it activated segwit. Deary me.  Roll Eyes

Meanwhile I haven't heard a thing from iCETEA since I countered his Litecoin versus Dash argument.

Instead of raging and screaming about some giant conspiratorial "well organized scheme" let's consider the fundamentals which differentiate Litecoin from Dash.

Litecoin is much older and has a more powerful/secure ASIC PoW network than Dash.

Litecoin is older than every coin except bitcoin that doesn't make it better. It does have a strong network, so does Dash. Monero on the other hand doesn't even have 1000 nodes.

Litecoin keeps up to date with hot new features like SEGWIT, while Dash can't even keep up with RBF/CPFP and breaks simple yet crucial things like IPv6 compatibility.

SEGWIT is very controversial, and in bitcoin seems a long way off being accepted. Litecoin is using this hype as fuel for a pump. IPv6 is irrelevant at this time. Other than you I haven't seen anyone else mention it.

Litecoin is going to have working payment channels like Lightning soon, thanks to SEGWIT.  That means InstantX, Masternodes, and Evolution are obsolete digital trash.

Lightning Network would be even more controversial than segwit. It will harm mining. And with huge volumes of transactions being handled off chain by Lignting Network will make the whole point of the blockchain diminish. The big money elites will be delighted to be a step closer to achieving elimination of cash replaced by electronic money in their control via lightning networks.

Litecoin's creator has DNA from MIT & Google, while Dash's has a sketchy background in finance and a 2 year mail-order degree in web marketing from University of Phoenix.

Roll Eyes So what? Steve Jobs and Bill Gates dropped out of college. I could almost say that a degree is a hindrance. Certainly it encourages parrot like repetition of 'the mainstream' rather than original thinking.

Litecoin's cobblee does not shill for and pump LTC; Dash's Duffield frequently advertises his project as a legitimate investment without disclosing the risks involved.

Evan is invested in the project. And wants it to succeed. Thanks to the instamine he was able to focus on it full time.

Litecoin was not 20% Instamined in the first 2 days; Dash was.  Litecoin never cut total emission to further enrich early miners; Dash did.

You can think of the instamine as a bit like an ICO. As already mentioned it enabled Evan to concentrate full time on the XCoin/Darkcoin/Dash project. Which we are all now benefiting from.

Litecoin does not require trusted 3rd party security holes; Dash makes SlaveNode users the playthings of Masternode Ponzi participants.

This point doesn't make sense.

Litecoin doesn't have to keep changing its name like a disgraced over-diluted pink sheet stock; Dash does.

Dash has evolved and its name has reflected that. Litecoin is still stuck as silver to bitcoin gold and will never be anything else. The segwit hype only proves that further.

Litecoin is supported by Coinbase and Kraken; Dash is considered a scam and despised by most of the crypto community, and thus will never trade on those exchanges.

Those exchanges may well change their minds just as bitfinex did.

Litecoin prioritizes technology over marketing; Dash does the opposite.

This couldn't be more wrong. Litecoin has done anything original except tweaking the bitcoin parameters? Dash has done more innovation than any other coin. The marketing is just a happy side effect of the budget system. Which is working supremely well.

Litecoin has a bus factor >>1.  Dash keeps losing devs who get wise to Evan 'The Instaminer' Scamfield's long con:

I never heard of Dash losing devs. I do notice them growing the team.

Icebreaker hasn't been seen since I posted this.

Dash Hires Six New Full-Time Evolution Developers in 2017 Sprint

Dash Core has announced the inclusion of six new full-time developers to work on Evolution as Dash continues its 2017 surge.

Andy Freer, CTO of the Dash Core team, announced this week that six developers have been hired to work full-time on Evolution, Dash’s highly anticipated release. Evolution aims to completely overhaul the Dash structure, providing a highly user-friendly experience for average, non-technical users, among a series of other radical overhauls.

This adds to a series of Dash victories this year, including a significant spike in market cap, a large developmental budget, and a string of business integrations....

Charlie Lee Is Right: An Over-Caffeinated Rant On Bitcoin - Dash Force News

I knew this day would eventually come, the day that Charlie Lee finally admits that he desires confidential transactions for Litecoin. Admittedly I didn’t think it would take him this long. I mean after all, it’s only taken him 6 years to figure out (Litecoin launched in 2011) that Bitcoin and Litecoin are not fit to be used as money for purchases.

My words may sound harsh, but please understand, it’s not to gloat; it’s out of pure frustration. As a passionate follower of Bitcoin from early 2013, I recall the massive price explosion after the Cyprus bail-ins and the excitement of a money revolution. It sounds funny to say now but most people actually believed Bitcoin transactions were anonymous back then. So what does Bitcoin have to do with Litecoin?….

Hi there,

On behalf of the Core Team I’m pleased to announce that we have completed the recruitment into the DashCore development team and hired 6 new fulltime C++ developers who started yesterday, May 1st, raising the total full-time DashCore developers to 9.

Running in tandem to our recent team reorganization, this recruitment process took 3 months and from around 50 applicants we conducted dozens of interviews and code reviews to select the 6 applicants who matched best our requirements for fulltime contributors to DashCore.

The expanded DashCore team is responsible for updating the DashCore reference software through current milestones and through to Evolution, and is lead by UdjinM6, with Robert Weicko as Project Manager and using the Trac system for task planning maintained by Timothy Flynn.

Introducing the new team members:

· Will Wray: 20 years programming experience in C++/ASM within organizations ranging from Hewlett-Packard Labs to Morgan Stanley and Ripple. Will holds a MA from Cambridge University and did post-grad studies in Intelligent Autonomous Systems at UWE.

· Oleg Girko, 20 years programming experience in C/C++, Python, Tcl/Tk, Perl and System Administration on projects ranging from GitLab to Google to Amazon.com. Oleg holds a MSc in Applied Mathematics from St. Petersburg State University

· Karol Rychlicki, 8 years of C++ development experience in FinTech companies ranging from Bloomberg to X Trade Brokers. Karol holds a MSc in Computer Science and a post-grad from the Warsaw Schoole of Economics.

· Ilya Savinov: 12 years programming experience including C++11, STL, Qt, Buildroot, Git on projects ranging from Graphene based cryptocurrencies to embedded systems to Bitcoin.

· Sergey Gladkov: 10 years experience developing cross-platform C++ applications ranging from Acronis products to cryptocurrencies such as Boolberry.

· Ian Marshall: Lisp, C++, SQL, developer with 14 years experience ranging from AI applications to Bitcoin ride-sharing apps to programs analysis at Pratt & Whitney. Ian has extensive experience with Databases and will be working mainly in the DashDrive team lead by Nathan Marley

We have also completed recruitment and restructuring in the Evolution backend (DAPI) and frontend (Clients) teams and I will update on that separately and we’ll update the dash.org team page soon.

Now that we have expanded and restructured the development teams and know what resources are in place, we will prepare a full roadmap for coming Dash releases through to Evolution, which we plan to publish later this month (May).

Best,

Andy Freer
