Don't worry for your coins.
It's important to update in time for MNO, no normal wallet.

The wallet.dat still 100% compatible, just backup your wallet.dat, upgrade, and put your wallet at new location. (the default datadir change directory depending on your OS, it's (.)dashcore instead on (.)dash).

I still havnt updated to 12.1 yet (dont even know what version I have atm) didnt update for a few months now I think. I dont have to worry about my wallet not be able sync to the network right? I can still send my coins, or update and then send it? long term holder so with todays value certainly dont wont to lose my coins..

What altcoins do you refer here? Dash long term holders are the biggest winner, the best coin except bitcoin. Dash coin is the future of anonymous.
