Funny how I said this yesterday and it's come true.

Diff down, back up on the profitability chart. WIN WIN for doge.
I don't know what planet you come from... but rapidly decreasing network security is a big LOSE.  At this rate of hashrate decline, doge is going to be ripe for 51% attacks after another halving or two.  Then you'll see someone's fancy new scrypt ASIC warehouse attack the coin like we saw with all the SHA clones that didn't move to merge mining. What happens after an attack like that?  Value plummets.  Based on dev/community choices, this is almost certainly the future of Doge.

No amount of cute memes or advertising can save a blockchain with a fraction of the global hashrate while maintaining a decent market cap.

And the idea that Doge could convert to PoS easily is rather laughable.  Hard forks aren't easy to coordinate, specifically when you have a large community and many aren't particularly technical.

At about 60GH network power compared to about 78ish that isn't all that bad considering it would fluctuate between that even before halving.

All the weak hands can sell and mine something else.

DOGE UNTIL THE END/

+1
60Gh/s is great really. And Dogecoin also has an advantage: there are many persons who don't know much about cryptos who are mining doges with their GPU because, well, they simply like it, and it's easy for them to find out how to mine it.

On /r/dogecoin, there's already a "Dogecoin Defence Force", where users pledge that they'll keep mining dogecoin even if it gets considerably less profitable than other coins, and group buys are coordinated, notably, for a hosted titan miner. However, with Dogecoin's potential to be the #2 crypto, I don't even think this is necessary.

if price doesn't spike a lot
im pretty sure most people will stop mining and diff will come way down.

Thus keeping it in a good profitability range. It's win win for doge either way.

I correct my previous statement: there's 1500 new shibes on /r/dogecoin since yesterday, and we're first on the trending subreddits list!

Is there any way to see the numbers of posts/day ? Or to approximate them at least? I'm not a fan of reddit myself.

It's not quite up-to-date, but this page shows statistics on traffic: http://www.reddit.com/r/dogecoin/about/traffic/

and the dogechain has spoken! 200 000 blocks, yay!

And still at 50 GH/s ! Not Bad!

I expect a small pump because of this new hype and a small dump.
I certainly will take advantage of it.

But I am willing to bet we will not see the increase most people here are waiting for.

It's happening; already 0.00000112 on Cryptsy and 0.00000118 on Prelude Smiley

6h to halving!
Next pump on Doge will destroy our minds Cheesy

Thanks , but i'm not that anxious to have my mind destroyed.
Besides , why would people start to buy out of the blue after 6 hours and not now?

It's not about buying it's about selling. After halving mining pools will have to find another altcoin for their pumping (Darkcoin) activity.

Yeah , it was the same last time. You can check the price during the last halving. Wink
You will be unpleasantly surprised.

The difference is that the price was massively pumped before the last halvening. Now it is relatively stable (well, for cryptos) since a few weeks, thus I expect a slow, natural, price growth in the next few weeks because of less selling pressure and growth of Doge userbase (600 new subshibers on /r/dogecoin yesterday!)

And about that user base....it has grown four times while the price has halved , number of transactions is going down from 120k to less than 20k.....sometimes I really don't understand those coins...
