People finally realizing deflationary currencies aren't currency? They're collectibles.

Absolutely, I am not sure that Santoshi meant it to be so, but that is what cryptocurrency has become for the majority of the users.

(Personaly I don't like the CAP, or at least it should be much smaller)

Sorry, I still don't understand...

If the reward is having at the 50% mark, and there is no cap, then what 50% is it of?

The reward will half at block number 100000

(We are currently at block 87430)

Elaboration:
At block number 100000, is aprox. 50 bil Doge mined.

100000 blocks * average of 500000 Doge per reward = 50 bil Doge.

Which is 50% of the original cap at 100 bil doge.

I call it 50% because I was under the impression that there was a market cap of 100billion, so I mean 50billion. Even when you look @ www.Dogechain.info and go to the stats page (http://dogechain.info/chain/Dogecoin/statistics) it shows it as if it is 100billion and done.

This is needs to be fixed asap.  This wouldn't be the first thing that had to be fixed due to dogecoin actually getting picked up and I am sure it won't be the last.  It could however break the "dogecoin spirit" or maybe it is a snap back into reality from Jackson that this is a worthless pump n dump coin. I think he is more about spreading crypto to people rather than his coin has value.... I could see making as many coins if this is the case.

I bought www.DogecoinCharts.com like the first day I got into doge because of the image that I have posted in there. Pretty sure that came from Jackson or Billy as one of their early marketing things (it worked too.)

Why would there be 10k coins forever? Wouldn't the reward be halving soon?

One has no relation to another ...
Like many wrote here and I wrote since decision were made - getting 10k after cap is the good side if you look on doge best future Wink

About halving - yes around 9 days and halving happen ...

Where did all you fucking people come from?!?! Is this reddits doing?

The halving comes @ the 50% mark of the coin.  Edit: Which isn't really 50% of the o/s rofl.... *gag*

http://dogechain.info/chain/Dogecoin/statistics

As I type this there are currently  43.57 % (43,572,501,239.00 DOGE) mined.

The reward is going to half @ the 50% mark, but we all thought the coin had a "cap" of 100billion. This is not true.  Once we get to the 100bil point the block reward will remain @ 10k coins per block forever.

Bit of a game changer hu?

The fee is optional, so there is no way to control how high the fee is and miners may not find they get enough so they collectively stop (switch to mining other coins, like they do all day)
I re-state that it will be a trickle.
10k compared to the 500k now means it will be 2% of today's dilution of the existing coins. That is peanuts and the value will be higher accordingly - as long as Doge is still being used as much then as today, if not more.

The fee is not optional.  Make a transaction with 0 TX fee in your wallet and you will find out.  The network automatically charges fees and they were set about a month or so ago to prevent micro charges.

Thanks for getting that one.

Is anyone else a little upset/sketched out that there is no cap?  I thought 100bil coins was a fuck ton, but I thought it would be cool that dogecoin was the first coin to cap out of them all.... well come to find out that isn't the case at all.  I feel like this needs to be capped @ what we all thought it was.  I believe the word capped was even used on the OP.

Edit:
I have sold my doges until this is figured out. Such profit!
Too bad...for you.
As discussed many times before, the amount of Doge that will continue to trickle once the 100B Doge are mined is so little - it will keep some miners going and that is required, because without miners there are no confirmations, no new blocks, no transactions - *Then* the coin would be dead (some coins have died from lack of interest by miners, so even if an exchange tried to move coins, there were no more confirmations and everything froze. It is a good thing, not just a little inflation (bringing Doge to more people) but also continue to reward miners. I think it was the right decisions and since there will be no impact on the price of Doge from a little trickle likie that, compared to the current mining rate, I have no problem to HODL my Doge.

Jesus christ you have to be kidding me.

Do you know how many miners it would take to spin the network?

Also 10,000 coins ever minute for EVER... Miners get their dogecoins from the fees from dogecoins moving around. That is why it is important for people to spend/move their coins and dev of the coin is must.  I was under the impression that as the coin neared the cap the fee would go up to help pay the miners.

Edit: Those are cute doges above Cheesy

Yolo your life saving into it then.  If I wanted something that had never ending printing I'd keep it in USD. At least then I can buy a burger or wipe my butt with it Cheesy
