Yes, Echo will be running on the BitShares Graphene Blockchain. We are planning to provide special gateway and bridge services for other digital currencies. Users can either use MPA (BitAssets) or a 1:1 collateralised Sidechain. I don´t like Exchange issued IOU and will avoid them at all costs!! No more goxxing. More details on that in the future.

We are still in development and plan to launch end of the year. The ECHO app will be available in the official Android and iOS App stores. We also plan to upload the .apk on alternative stores so that you can use your jailbreak devices too. And to avoid an app pull disaster if Android or Apple decides to pull the app from the users phone. That happen with Bitcoin wallets a while ago :/

Yes, kind of similar. Only that the Graphene Blockchain already exists since a couple of months and runs smoothly. We already finished multiple multi-currency wallets as proof of concepts. We now have to add the IPFS based Chat in a fresh cool WeChat based interface.
