There is both a GPU miner(Modified Reaper) and CPU miner(built in).
errrrrr...I think you said in op:

so CPU is useless because GPU has more hashrate..
CPU is not useless. CPU still achieves decent hashing on the coin(such as Amazon instances and CPU rigs).
GPU is also useful but not to the point of making CPU useless, as is the case with Scrypt.
Any hashrate estimates for a specific model of CPU and GPU to form a baseline?

Lovin' the name "eCoin" has a real memorable ring like email or eBay.
Also, like the fact that it's CPU mining only, as a non-miner. Have been doing this with Ripple and World Community Grid projects and it's very satisfying to receive coins just for having it run in the background. A lot more environmentally friendly of course too, without power-hungry GPUs.
