This is not about EGC (or any coin in general) - it is about what we are going to do with POSW and POSWallet.com
Once we have completed the transition, we may look at adding coins again
Please remove any EverGreenCoin from PoSwallet.com before June 12th.
They (PoSwallet) have always seemed to be fair in regard to their dealings from my experiences with them.
We will be losing a resource though, with the web wallet they had no longer being there.
Maybe it's time to acquire/make our own?
My suggestion:
Crowdsource our own webwallet.
Add some fees in there to help cover the costs of maintaining it.
Possibly a percentage of the stake, or transfer fees since EGC does need to take care of itself too, in order to accommodate others and green projects.
There is an active dev here, that we shouldn't expect to do everything, so we could at least cover the cost of making something like this happen if it fits in his plans.
One of the biggest hurdles to newcomers I see is the extra work in downloading a client, then doing the synchronizing.
With an official web wallet, somebody could have access to their EGC immediately, then do the wait/experience the learning curve, at their convenience.
Agreed.
I envision a system by which users of EverGreenCoin.org will have a wallet generated upon account creation. These wallets would be group staked, with the foundation coins and via solar power, and pay interest installments monthly to each individual. Like archaic banking systems take money from you on a given day of the month? Yes, I want to do the opposite and remove the elusiveness of when the next installment might occur or its amount. Users wouldn't even need to hear the words "proof of stake" nor understand it. I honestly want to deliver this with no fees and I think it can be done with certain restrictions like transactions to 'external' wallets. This system could even do 'intra' wallet transactions with no transaction fees. So, absolutely zero fees to, for example, purchase something in the marketplace or support a green project's crowdfund. I find it hard to find space for the word "fee" in "cultivate and nurture". I will make every effort to remove it.
This has always been a goal. It was even previously roadmapped before priorities needed to shift largely due, but not exclusively, to network issues of the past. For that, I apologize. But I think anyone would understand the circumstances, certainly if they spoke to me.
We can discuss where it might fit into future plans and everything it would take at this weekend's meeting. I am adding it to the itinerary now and I will get notes on the topic in order for that meeting.
